Richmond produces the right stuff for that, columbiads and mortars, build as much as possible and anything else you can spare, they will shoot brigade wide holes to an assaulting enemy.

Do we still get bonus in battle for defending the capital?

GS must be reading this but I think he has scouted as much. :D

Bonus in battle for defending the capital? Must have missed something there.

FYI, no my, uhem, 'scouting' hasn't shown these details. I've done some scouting, now & then, as you know, but Sailors and ordinary stacks, even with integrated Cav, don't show that much. I haven't had a proper Cav recon near Richmond yet, I don't think.

Built some Balloons, though - they seem to do pretty good on uncovering things in the neighborhood. Never used them much, but they aren't half-bad.

The Objectives screen (F9) lists Richmond as worth only 5 NM, so this is incorrect and should be changed in an upcoming patch? D.C., just below it, shows 50NM.

Good job midnight! Try some of the harder difficulty and detection settings, but most of all have fun with the game. I believe an additional challenge is to load Athena's side eventually and just move her capital for her. Good luck!

Nope, WAD, I believe. Same as AACW, IIRC.

Losing DC is a Very Big Deal & Could End the Game. Richmond, not so much.

Thanks Gray Fox! I'm definitely having fun, so I'm thinking I will crank up the difficulty and play as the Union again and see if I can make fewer mistakes this time!

Before I start a new game, does any have any experience with 1.04 beta patch? I'm wondering if I should update or stay with 1.03.

Thanks

If by 1.04 beta patch, you mean RC4, which is a release candidate, not really a patch, then Yes, RebelYell and I have been using it for about two weeks now.

The biggest difference is most probably finances: the Union gets $800 for each choice, the CSA, $600. We changed to RC4 mid-game and the finances make a difference already.

Just FYI, it's not really patching stuff - it's a version that's supposed to be close to 1.04, thus the nomenclature, 'release candidate'. This is why RY & I agreed to use it, supposedly more stable and authoritative than an interim patch.

Thanks for the clarification Granite, sounds like I'll give RC4 a try!
