Will Hannibal have the Battle Planner?

Sat Apr 19, 2014 3:55 am

Probably a pipe dream but will Hannibal have CW2's battle planner? It seems to me that the battle planner might allow us to pull off a Cannae. If the answer is no, then there's no further discussion to be had. If the answer is yes, I have a second question. ;)

If we do have it, will we be able to play all our AJE/BOR scenarios from the Hannibal exe like we can play our AJE with BOR at present? And will the battle planner work with the older AJE/BOR scenarios as well?

Thanks

No worries. It's not a factor in my decision to buy since it's a must-buy anyway. It was just a thought that I had when I woke up this morning.

Please, say that we (owners of AJE, BOR and PW) will not be required to keep AJE and BOR as separate installations on HD in order to play older scenarios in Hannibal.

You'll have to install the others games to get the scenarios. Once this is done, any of the 3 games will see the scenarios of all games.

Now, if you want to remove the content of the 2 others games, that's possible, but you'll have either to copy the scenario folder and then de-install fully the 2 games, or just delete all the content of the 2 others games, except the 2 scenarios folders (so that the third and only remaining game intact can still see them).

But rest assured, any of the 3 games can run any of the 3 scenarios set. If you know how to move or copy a file, then you have a solution here. Most probably, anyone with a bit of programming skill and a few hours can do an utility to copy scenarios, but we need a volunteer, I have no time for that, nor I'm at ease proposing officially such utility.

Pocus, thank you for informative answer. It's not big deal to manualy copy scenario files. Just to be sure - are we need to copy ONLY scenario files from scens folder and nothing else (not scripts or something like that)?

Yes. Hannibal game will be prepared for it on release. AJE and BOR will too, but only with the next patch, to be released probably soon.

HToR is released. Just to be sure: Is now AJE ready for handling scenarios from BOR, PW and HToR? Can I copy ONLY scenario files from other games scens folder into AJE scens folder and nothing else (not scripts or something like that)? Then I can freely uninstall all other games from series?

Pardon me for possibly repeating what has already been said, but I just want to make sure I completely understand this.

I own BOR, and am going to buy HToR today after work. Can I simply copy my BoR scenario files and put them into the HToR scenario folder in order to play all scenarios from HToR? Then uninstall Birth of Rome?

Or do I have to keep the scenario folder from BoR in the original installed location of BoR, and uninstall the rest of the BoR game, in order for HToR to find and read these scenarios?

I hope that makes sense.

If you have both BOR (patched to 1.04) and Hannibal installed, you do not need to copy anything anywhere, the scenarios of both will be visible in both games.

Yes, I understand that. I am talking about if I want to uninstall BoR like Emx77 was asking. I just wanted clarification of exactly what is needed to copy the scenarios out of BoR into Hannibal.
