Bad, bad, bad mistake

Tue Apr 08, 2014 10:51 pm

RebelYell & I started a game. Can't handle the tourney, too much of a regular schedule, can't squeeze it in. But two PbeMs are possible.

Mar62 - had been assembling a bigger navy than usual, taking a different tack in this game (me, Union), Decided to attack H&D with Grant and three Divs, all Sailored (KY still 'neutral'). Also, close blockaded Charleston & Wilmington, up close and personal. Furthermore, to land in Suffolk, VA to attack Norfolk.

Well, the fort running went OK and both are blockaded.

Grant lost half of a force of 16K to AS Johnston just waiting for him - when the h*** am I gonna learn to recon, fer cryin' out loud?

But that was nothing.

The three Divs in the Norfolk EF landed in Suffolk, went to attack Norfolk (10 Days to get there; two Divs Sailored) and RebelYell brought JJ and R E Lee to the party in wtf force. Lee unlocked early, it seems, I sure wasn't near Richmond.

Forgot about (a) RR movement speeds, and (b) how the program positively delights in handing you the Worst Retreat Possible.

So...

looks like the Norfolk EF is buttered toast - with Meagher, too (!@#$%!!!).

Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

Ouch! Chin up, mate! It's not how you start that counts most, it's how you finish.

How did you know that I was in recon? ;)

He is pushing there also, he lost 10.000 in Fredericksburg against Longstreet but might push again.

Finnish Panzerjägers where pretty good at countering our probes, lot of tripwires but we took them out and placed them against them with some mines attached. ;)

Thanks, appreciate the buck up.

I do like to make challenges for myself, don't I?

No, I was a medic.

You know what I'm trying to do at this point, it's hardly a mystery. It's gonna come down to crunch time.

Well, in this game against RY, I withdrew to NE NC, trying to escape.

And cooked up the idea of rescuing them thru the NC waters. Didja know TPs will go in there, up the Chowan River?

So I managed to get a rescue fleet there and got them boarded just in time; R E Lee was paying a call.

As Ripley said to herself in the final sequence in Alien: "Lucky, lucky, lucky. Lucky, lucky, lucky."
