Supply, wagons, and depots

Sun Apr 06, 2014 9:23 pm

I need help on supply. not so much the numbers ,because they don't mean anything if I cant supply. I build depots in cities that allow me too, because it gives me that option but I don't know why some I can and some I can't. And supply wagons? Do they automatically supply the troops. Is there a certain amount of wagons I need for a army or division.? I have an Army with three corps, and 3 division in each. How many supply wagons do I need, or where to I put them in the a division command or corps. Also how many Dr.s one an army or corps?

Thanks for your time.

There's a small essay on Supply I wrote in AACW that's about fifteen threads down: "Supply Essay" - it's from AACW, originally, but it might help.

Helps a lot thanks! May be stupid question. But to get supplies from lets say from a overstocked city in the south to Virginia do I need to manually move wagons to that city to load and back north?

No. You will need rail and river movement. If you hover over the train icon at the top, it tells you that your transportation network is "Nil, very limited, average, or full" (I think those are the exact words, but could be off a little). The 4 levels let you know how many supply "pulses" you have for rail and for river. Each "pulse" allows you to move supply 5 territories by rail or 5 for river. There are limits on what can move where, but in general, you move from city to city, or from city to depot, or depot to depot. A city needs to be size 3 or larger. The amount of supply moved towards a point is dependent on how much is needed in that region. So for example, if you have Lee with 2 corps and 10 division in Richmond, that region will be crying for supply for that force, whereas a single regiment of Militia will not be heard, and will probably get nothing forwarded to it.
