Please explain so I can finally understand?

Wed Apr 02, 2014 5:25 pm

Please note it is early June '61. Look at War Supplies and tell me what every number represents. Take special notice of the "Initial Amount". My War Supplies have never been that much. How does the math work? Also it shows 75 for events and strategic decisions, which to my knowledge, I had none. Bug??

You might want to upload your last 2 turns and let Pocus have a look at it.

Wish I could help. I experience the same problem. I no longer take notice of how the figures for conscripts and weapon supply is calculated. My money totals seem to work out right but the other two are beyond me.

I find that for both Conscripts and War Supplies - although I get different totals at the top - the changes for both each turn are identical.....and I do mean identical.

As, unlike some, I've yet to experience a game crash, I'm inclined to leave well alone rather than attempt a reinstall to see if that would cure it. Particularly as I play turn and turn about Pbem so it cannot possibly be solely down to my installation.

I believe the UI needs some work - the s/shot's figures and the info given by the OP don't add up, for one.

It's something they're working on, I think.

Use the Regions screen to verify and gain an understanding for $$, Conscripts and WS. Click on column headers to sort descending (highest to lowest).

So it seems there is no explanation. That's a damn shame. That should be a ultlra important part of the game, I think.

FelixZ - that screen still does not show why the initial amount is so off.

I did gain an explanation by reading the numbers on the Regions screen and comparing them to turn info at the top left of the main screen!

Doesn't the initial amount equal the ending amount from the previous turn - using memory now which can never be 100% reliable!

Just looked at an on going game. $$ and Conscripts have the same ending and initial. WS is not correct. As noted by others there is an error in the programing - WS appears to be using some Conscript data.

According to the ledger, last turn there was 238 War Supplies. 22 were spent on replacements, 64 were gained from cities, and 75 were gained from event.

By those figures there should be 355 remaining. Even if all the new numbers were negative (which they are not) there should still be 77 in the pool.

That is why I recommended he post his last two turns for comparison.

Ol'Choctaw, I will be glad to do that but I am having trouble locating the files for the last two turns. Please advise.

Frankly, seriously, you'd be doing a lot of work for yourself that possibly is entirely moot at this time.

Go into Saves, select the game in question and select the first backup folder, let's say. Then copy all those files, park 'em in a temp holding directory, rename stuff, bring it back into Saves as a top-level directory structure and Load ExpmtOne, or whatever you call it.

And then the UI will still show the same imprecise information, just with different values, dollars to donuts.

It's messed up and doesn't work - with all the kindness I know, just forget about it right now, it's messed up. Just go by what the screen is showing for the value at the start of the Turn - that's OK, I believe. Fly by the seat of your pants, and get a feel for what should be consumed, etc., 'cuz the instruments are broken right now - we hope 1.04 will resolve this and some other issues, like Henderson, KY being impassable at times and not enough $$ from Taxes.

It is slightly tricky, but not really.

Look at the directory and see where CW II is located. It should either be My Games or just Games. Then go into your documents directory on your computer and look for the same directory name there or just search for CW II and look in saves. Find the game files that match the game and date. C:\Users\Name\Documents\My Games\Civil War II\CW2\Saves then your campaign.

I just had a look and it looks like the WSU turn change history is showing the conscript company history by mistake...

So are WSU being worked out correctly?, is there any way to work them out other than the tool-tips?

Dunno, if I understand you. It's messed up and I would say that it's not gonna give anything you can hang your hat on. You can try analyzing, but where do you start?

The value displayed at the beginning of a Turn is accurate, AFAIK. And that's all I know.

Got by SQA, usability testing. No conundrum about it. It's present in all software. With the best practices and intents, it still happens.

It doesn't work right. We can't go into the back end, so that's it. We wait for 1.04.

That's an awesome find Highlandcharge, gold star! I had been wondering myself why the info was so screwy.
I have found that once i buy something costing any WS the top of the screen corrects itself to the correct value, can you confirm?

Yes, AFAIK, the initial value is correct and it subtracts correctly. Then it processes the Turn and displays the right value again. And that's it - it's misreading fields in a schema, executing lines that are undesired, or a pointer is incorrect, most likely one of those.

I think you are correct lycortas2 :)

Seems like its just a cosmetic bug, but looks like somebody beat me to it over a month and a half ago... oh well :)

As FelixZ pointed out, the values listed in the Region Ledger are correct. (The Region columns show the numbers adjusted for morale and loyalty, rather than the base values shown when examining the structures using Ctrl-Click.) Add up the numbers in each column and they should match the numbers reported in parentheses, (+68) and (+38) so at least that part of the tooltip is reliable (at least the times I added them up they matched).

The Conscript tooltip in Highlandcharge's screenshots shows an extra 10 conscript companies (704 + 68 - 148 = 624 not 634), so in addition to the WS tooltip using Conscript numbers, something else is going on as well.

Like GS I find that I ignore all but the top line of these tooltips, since the only reliable information is the amount currently on-hand and the gain from cities income shown in parentheses next to it.

Now this is one useful piece of info. Thanks, Comfy Guy. Any more tidbits you wanna drop, please, feel very free.

I figured the extra 10 was something going on in the background that is not shown in the tool-tips... not wrong just unreported for some reason..

Agreed thanks for the info on the region ledger armchair :)

When does Athena compute the gain in conscripts, money, etc? If it occurs at the end of the resolution phase, the extra 10 conscripts may reflect the capturing of objectives or the firing of some event, which raised NM thereby increasing your per turn gain.
