What Happened to the Monitor and Merrimack?

Fri Mar 14, 2014 5:01 am

In my last two PBEM CW2 games, neither player had these units via game events. Must they now be built?

I have noticed that the July 61 start does not give the Union Monitor or Dahlgren, for some reason. Dunno 'bout the Merrimack for sure.

I can confirm that neither the Merrimack or Buchanan exist or spawn despite the message informing the player of the completion of it popping up at the right time. Just another headache for the devs. Also too, there is a region in KY which does not unlock if KY secedes in favour of the CSA. Trapped Forrest because I had forgotten it! lol.

What region is this? In my game KY seceded in favor of the CSA, and I don't want to leave anybody stuck in this region.

April 61 start, Dahlgren & another Admiral & Monitor appear in NYC. CSS Virginia (aka Merrimack) appear in Norfolk, VA.

Not in July for Union vessel & I think not for CSA one, either.

The Kentucky issue occurs for the side that doesn't intervene. A couple of us brought it to the dev team's attention shortly after 1.03 came out.

In the 1861 April campaign the Monitor/Merrimack-Virginia events will fire if the Confederates capture Norfolk.

The Confederates blew up the Merrimack on May 11th, after Norfolk fell. The Monitor sank in gale during an attempted tow past Cape Hatteras on New Year's Eve. Both vessels were collecting barnacles less than 10 months after Hampton Roads. That's the "answer" to thread's title. ;)

Well, if only you were addressing May 61 instead of May 1862 I would concur. As is, the Merrimack does not appear in the July 1861 game.

Looks like a mistake "removed" the event from the July 1861 setup (both ships, in this scenario, start the game under construction in their respective places). I'll need to make a fix for this.
