Short KY Q

Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:05 am

PbeM game with havi; me as Union

Early Aug 61 - message: KY secedes from Union

Uh-oh, uh-oh

Loyalty kaput

And lost a battle at Louisville, narrowly, to Zollicoffer; garrison still there but odds are poor

Q: he is 7 hrs ahead of me & asleep. Did he possibly choose the Invasion and get this? Or is this entirely the program's doing?

Only other time I saw this was first game ever, in 1.01

Thx, guys

It's possibly the program. Did you have a lot forces near Kentucky? (or was that from AACW?) I can't remember.

Nah, I try to chill. Lessee, I will put the Light Brigades from the Midwest in Cincy to Train with Brindell Boy; move the OH & KY squadrons to Cincy; uh, that's it.

My first game ever - ever - boom, same time/Turn, I think - "KY has seceded".

So I do think it is the program. I asked havi if he did it in my last Turnsend, but he's seven hours ahead and sleeping.

Tougher game now - everybody in KY hates me, too.

***

I would bet there's a PWR trigger involved, how much on the border. Maybe too many with Brindell Boy in Cincy (where he stays).

I've never been able to figure out how to invade KY on purpose as the CSA (I haven't wanted to though, so haven't tried very hard). Is it a ledger decision I am missing?

The invasion option is only available form September. So I think this is the 10% probability that KY will secede kicking in.

Good morning sirs.

I didn't invade the loyal kentuckians seceded on their own. This is fun alternative history
And now union and gstater have to think something else.

Yes, but I don't remember which tab it is on.

Last I heard, there was only a 5% chance of KY joining the south.

So I should look for it from Sept. 62 in the ledger. Thanks everyone!

One out of ten (or even one out of 20) is actually quite often, although 5% and 10% seem like small numbers to the naked eye. (Commenting on human perception of probability rather than making a judgement on whether these are "appropriate" percentages for the rule, to which I am indifferent. Statistics and probability is my field in RL.)

You're probably making that up.
