CWII - Public Beta 1.02 - Critical Error Crash

Sun Dec 08, 2013 8:27 pm

Clean installation.

Quite frequently during the course of this game I have received this, or similar, crashes to desktop mid-turn. Game seems to pick up where I left off when I restart the game.

An observation - not sure that it applies all the time, as I wasn't focused on it early on - it seems like the first turn after I start up the game is when it crashes. I reopen it - the Matrix screen is still there - and it seems to go OK.

I had very few crashes with 1.01.

This new beta version is unstable. I have experienced numerous crashes.

Are you still both using the User path directory, i.e saving your games and logs in your user profile?

I am just letting the game save games to the default location, which, with Windows 8.1, is My User ID/Documents/My Games/CWII

No I am not. I am using Civil War II\CW2\Saves. But this caused no problems with 1.01

Try to add CW2.EXE to the exception list of your anti-virus then. MichaelT, you should also perhaps move back to using the User directory, or move the whole game to another drive than C:

What adjustments did you perform? Did you follow the suggestions by Pocus?
Was this a Windows 8 issue with CW2?

Didn't do a thing. Just started a new game. No clue! Oh, I did change the number of saved turns [in the game options] from 12 to 3. That's it. Windows 8 patched today, so I'll see if anything new arises, but for now, at least on my PC, it appears fine now.
