Indian question (problem?) and bombardment observation

Sat May 12, 2007 9:46 pm

Indian question:
In a July campaign pbem game, I had Watie's Indians involved in a battle in MO. One unit took some hits, which do not seem to be regenerating. No big deal, you can't buy Indian replacements so I figure that is ok. But last turn (early March 1862) I got messages that "The xxxx has been reformed." where "xxxx" is the the same names of the units that already exist under Watie; I got a message for each of the 3 units and they all appeared in Gibson, IT. Watie is still Springfield now with the "same" units. Is this a bug?

An observation about naval bombardment: Does it favor the USA more than it should? The reason I ask is my pbem opponent is pounding all of my forts (as he should) and I am dishing out some hits as well as taking them.
Here is my concern: because of the "free" naval replacements (for the men lost on the bombarding ships) vs. the "real" replacements in artillery and infantry I am having to replace, it seems the USA is getting off easier because there is no need to replace the lost material as the CS must do. Maybe this works exactly as intended, I was just curious about it and wondered if anyone else had thoughts?

1. if the former units are still there, yes this is a bug. We will check first in the scripts, keep the save around in case of please.

2. indeed, can be a bit abusive. I will note that for a future patch, we will have the ships repairs cost a bit in supply and war supplies.

Oh, I thought this worked as intended. I can definitely confirm the three IT units appear by event for a second time early in 1862. I thought this was intended as Pike's command was bigger then just those three weak regiments (Watie and Drew's Regiments were each roughly 500 men in march 1862 and there was at least one more IT Regiment (Cooper iiirc) and a Battalion (McIntosh).

1. The former units are indeed still there. I can send a save tonight when I get home if you still need it.

Q: Do the Indian units regenerate strength at all, and if so do they need to be in an Indian village to do so?

2. Regarding the bombardment, thanks, that sounds like a good idea. My artillery replacements are being bled away by the constant bombardments.

1. its ok we spotted the error.
They will only recover men if you get replacements by script, they get some but very few.
