PBEM - can't process turns

Fri Oct 11, 2013 8:14 pm

Our PBEM game has become unplayable as of the most recent RC4 patch. Pryor to this patch we were running RC3. Under that patch I started the game sent the turn to my opponent (the entire save folder) he sent back the CSA.ord file and the .hst file and I was permitted to host that turn.

I then sent the entire save folder and we have been sending the folder back and forth ever since, but I have not been allowed to host a turn again and get the activate the AI pop-up when I try. My opponent has been allowed to host, but now as of our patching up, we both get the AI warning pop-up and cannot play on.

Here’s our save folder:

No luck with this? Is our game a bust?

Preliminary inspection reveals nothing wrong. I saw the 2 stamps and managed to process your turn without a warning. Are we talking of the Early July 61 turn?
Here it is as a new turn:

Now about your problem. Are you sure there is not a confusion between the 2 possible directories where you can play the game? If you have userpath.ini in the main game folder, then the Saves must go to your user directory. You can find the location in the Options menu, Main Menu.

If the file is removed, then it reverts to the old scheme of having the Saves directory within the game itself.

Perhaps one of you is using a scheme and not the other, or you are adding the order in a directory but the hst is in another directory? I admit I'm not very sure what is going on, as I had no problem. Do you see the stamps in the Load Menu, indicating the order files are valid?

I deleted the .ini file and had the game create the folders in my games root directory before we began the game, and I’ve deleted the old path created by default under MyDocuments so no chance I’m using two different paths. I’ll check with my opponent and see if he has two possible paths.

As to the stamps in the load menu, are you talking about the little square icon on the bottom right of the save file image for the two sides when you go to open a turn? If so, I see one of those on both the union and CSA whenever I’ve gotten the file, I don’t think I’ve never seen one except when I start new games or play vs. the AI.

Thanks for looking at this, we both tried again yesterday and were still unable to run turns, so hopefully we can continue our game now. But if we still are having the same issue crop up, is there something you want/need me to do to help debug this further?

I downloaded the file and I was able to run the turn without problems as well.

Just to be sure, as you used double-negations in some sentences:

a) are you seeing the 2 stamps with blue/red arrows when you open the load window and select your game? If you are seeing them both and still have a message about the AI, then that would not be understandable to me.

b) you say you are unable to run the turns but you can continue the game now? Because of the turn I processed or the problem is somehow solved?

I'm sorry I can't help more, for me there is no glitch, I opened the load window, saw the 2 stamps, processed the turn. Perhaps try a fresh install?
