Wow! 2-minute turns with latest patch

Mon May 07, 2007 2:39 pm

What happened? Don't see it mentioned in the enhancements. With exactly same settings, near the end of the full April 1861 campaign, and my 7-minute turns are now zipping at 2 minutes with v 1.02e.

Still lots of action and fighting so it would seem that all the same number-crunching would have to be involved.

Sounds promising. I hope its nothing to do with the fact its winter so the AI is making fewer moves.

Pocus has already said that AI optimizations are coming up in a future patch after the bugs are squashed.

So I doubt faster turns are due to improvements in these initial patches.

I was afraid it was a fluke. But I haven't had this fast of a turn in any of three years and winters. Can't explain it because I didn't change my settings and there were a lot of battles.

I also experienced much faster turns. I pondered this a bit and I think it may be due to restarting my puter and clearing out the cache of all the other things that have been going on all day. Of course it may be something else entirely. :bonk:

Like you the turns were so quick went back to the game options to see if something had been turned off.

Once I got to spring and heavy fighting, the turns were closer to four minutes, still much, much faster than the previous versions of the game. Can't explain why, especially if Pocus did nothing to speed it up. But it makes a big difference in playability.

The AI speed is related to how much it has to move and think about. I find as the Union in 1865 that the AI is very fast but just the opposite if I was CSA during this same time for example.

I'm playing as the Union. I had 2-minute turns at the start and each year got worse to 7-minute turns prior to the patch. After the patch, blistering at 2 minutes. Never been that fast in four years of simming. Worst is 4 minutes with the new patch during the spring of many battles in 1865.

OK, I am now haveing the opposite effacts. With 1.01e the turns are takeing longer than they did with 1.01d. I will double check to make sure my settings didn't change.

102e. I'm so close to the end of the full campaign that the AI (Confederacy) really doesn't have much chance to do anything but run, hide and defend.
