CP and Colonial Loyalty

Wed May 22, 2013 4:01 am

Hey guys,

I am playing as Prussia and i am fighting in the south west of Africa and i cant get my CP above 35% and i took all the regions of nama but they keep popping units. Also how can i establish a colony. I was thinking of negotiate a peace and never return and focus on other areas, seeing that there is only fish in this contested area with nama.

I think that till you achieve German unification then, as Prussia, you have a limited range of colonial cards so being stuck at about 35% sounds right. Once you establish your goals in Europe you'll get access to the more powerful options.

Are you fighting a non-organised state or rebels? In the latter case they won't make peace. Dealing with colonial wars is one of the fun, and frustrating, elements to this game. Keep your rear well garrisoned, ensure your columns have a high detection unit and sooner or later (more likely later) you will destroy them - or push them beyond your borders, as long as you then garrison the borders they tend not to try to return.

The economic value of a colony is secondary to the prestige value for holding it. So even if it is just fish, if its in your SoI, and one of your targets (see the F9 colonial affairs screen) then you will gain prestige for owning it. More valuable places maybe in someone else's SoI and if so, be prepared to have any expansion of your own contested.

Remember, Bismarck was right, Prussia really needs a Europe first strategy.
