Entrenchment Levels and merchants

Fri May 17, 2013 10:35 pm

I have noticed some variability in entrenchment levels allowed for my units. In some cases, entrenchment seems to peak out at level 2, while in other locations, level 4 and level 8 entrenchments are possible. What causes the difference in different entrenchment levels? Are they related to the castrum, praetorium and pugnaculum? I have noticed the ability to build castrums but I don't think I have noticed the ability to build praetoriums or pugnaculums.

Also I have been placing merchants into various locations successfully but I haven't actually received any notification they are producing income. How do I know if they are working or not?

Level 8 entrenchment? :O

IIRC the merchant decision lasts 6 turns, and by then you'll receive the money if they are still in place. But while the merchant decision lasts, you should try establishing a trade post in the province. They bring more money.

You should see messages each turn about the merchants.
Entrenchment above level 2 is only possible in setup, IE garrisons etc, etc.
