Division that won't split

Fri Apr 27, 2007 11:17 pm

I have downloaded and installed the new patch but now I have a division that will not split up all the way. The division hq unit splits out but all of the other elements stay attached to the leader. The leader unit also stays named the "7th Division." I can then use the hq unit and form another 7th Division with another general. The reason I was going to split the unit in the first place was to promote the leader (Porter) who had become promotable. When I checked again after this malfunction all of a sudden he wasn't promotable any more. Very strange isn't it.

Have you tried saving the game, quiting and reloading? It might solve the name issue. In one of my trial campaigns, I had units renamed after I reloaded; divisions, to be more specific, that were not actually attached to corps.

I could be wrong, but since the divisional hq has been split from the leader, the units placed in the leader's stack won't be getting the divisional hq bonus.

As far as the promotion goes, it does sound strange. Perhaps Pocus could look into it, if you have the savegame available.

Can you send me the saved game, including backups in a single ZIP file to support@ageod.com

Point me to the unit which is not splitting correctly, and cite this thread too, thanks!

Has the ability to split brigades been removed? I can no longer do that in my 1.02 game. Also, when I split up the Union Divisions that arrive in the 1861 April scenario, they have no brigade organization, and appear as individual regiments.

split brigades? Unless the tooltip cite that there is an embedded unit in it, you can't split anything from a brigade. Some brigades come with a leader, so you can remove it, but thats it.

If the division comes with 0 embedded unit, then the split will have to slice it into regiments.
