What is that dial?

Can anyone explain what the dial in between

ACTIVE NATION, DIPLOMATS, NATIONAL MORALE, AND PRESTIGE POINTS

and

AVAILABLE ASSETS & LEDGER BUTTONS

on the main map means? There is nothing in the Manual about it.

In my game, it used to run all the way over to the right but now it's moving towards the red area. Should I be concerned?

if you hover over it you see progress to goals among the top 8 countries - its a bit more reliable than the list that appears in the F10 screen, Useful as a means to gauge progress but oddly as I have done better in my current game, I've slipped over to the right ... so don't fuss about where the arrow points to but in combination with F10 and the breakdown of prestige tooltip it does give you a useful feel for your progress. Its one of the combinations I regularly show in my AAR as it does help gauge progress.

Don't worry about where it is pointing. It is a guage of how you are doing vs. the other major countries. It will tell you your Prestige ranking, and the rankings of the major countries, and how close you are to winning. FYI, it only shows the majors (even if some other country has more prestige then a major - usually Japan and Italy are not in the top 8 to start the game).

Major countries are: U.S., Britain, France, Prussia/Germany, Russia, Japan, Austria, Sardinia-Peidmonte/Italy
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.
