REMNANTS OF JAPANESE OBSERVERS KILLED OR APPREHENDED IN NEARBY MOUNTAIN RANGE
After the opening of fire by Korean troops, the Japanese observers in Korea (mostly ceremonial and outdated samurai retainers) were scattered in the nearby villages and mountains. Unfortunately they weren't quite welcome there, the villagers betrayed their presence to the Korean scouts, possibly with the help of the Chinese standing army under Field Marshal Chiang-Chun that arrived the previous week. Most of our troops were killed or apprehended by the Korean administration.
In game terms: Argh, I thought my smallish unit would remain hidden as it was in passive mode, obviously it didn't so it engaged and got destroyed.

As furor over Belgium’s betrayal against Germany mounted, protests broke out in several German cities with Belgian communities. Many stores in Dusseldorf, Koln and Saarbruecken were attacked and looted by roving groups of angry young men. Local police officials appeared to do little to stop the mayhem.
In Berlin, the Wilhelmstrasse sank further into turmoil as infighting among different political parties escalated into shouting matches on the floor of the Reichstag. “How did this Belgian treachery go unnoticed for so many months?” was a question posed by Leopold Sonnemann of the German People’s Party. “Who at the Foreign Office was responsible for hiding the incident?” was another question asked by Heinrich Gotthard von Treitschke of the National Liberal Party. Some opposition parties saw their chance to pounce on Chancellor von Bismarck and score political points against his policies.
The German War Office and General Staff reportedly turned off their channels of communication with the Chancellor’s office. All intra-government telegrams, reports or business discussions between the two are now routed through the Palace. Rumors have been circulating throughout the Wilhelmstrasse that the Army is near open revolt and seething with anger at the Belgians. The Palace has refused any comment, but inside sources say the Kaiser is doing all he can to keep tempers in check and swords in their scabbards.
