In that situation the colonial actio is more free for other country, USA, Prussia, Russie. and with limited option to colonial white that situation all country give small territory in colonial area and for the futur, more diplomatic conflit for colonial area.

Does anyone know what claims the Ottoman have? I have some plans for military expansion which I think that are pretty historical (Egypt)

Egypt would not have the wherewithal to do anything with the Canal for some time (many years, I should think)......

I just want to restore the rightful Ottoman Rule into Egypt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt_Eyalet, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt_Eyalet) since during this game timeline they are pretty much a rebellious autonomous province of the Ottomans, though in reality province just in name.

I doubt I would ever be able to build the Suez so I don't mind another country invests and builds it.

I'd also add that we should figure this out as soon as we can since if we go with 1880 there's no real need for PhilThib to do the extra work he's planning on doing now, since he figured 1850 had won.

For colonial restricted for me, I only need 1 immigration, 1 option for colonal and protectora and 1 option or 2 option by other option and that is really good, and really slow speed for colonial with that no?

1880 is not bad, but I see really lot diplomatic action for event before that year, so I guess the 1880 is not real history if All playeur play. Other thing for me play all game with France the 1850 to 1920 on 5 year game is really good.

But for Japan and other country before That years is really really slow, for japan begin modern technology is what years? 1868 ? (I never play Japan) If is True what not set 1868 ? With that all country can do anything no?

True........Japan doesn't do a whole lot til a decade onward.....
As China, I played in the other PBEM from 1859 to 1872..... I got tired..... I didn't feel like I had the energy and any direction....
If I had had them from the start, I may not have lost Manchuria...... but I feel good that I gained some from Britain,when they overextended themselves....... (Tibet and part of Nepal)

In an 1850 game, Japan and perhaps others (Italy, Germany?) would be on hold (8+ months of real time = a decade)...... but the lesser countries would have an opportunity to grow, which AI might not give them in a later start.....?


Would it be worthwhile/possible/of interest trying to tweek the engine and run one turn per month? (or perhaps just for the first years)

This makes IMHO the game more enjoyable for the smaller powers (Japan, Italy mostly, but also TUR, BEL, CHI) because a lot of "waiting" time is not needed, although it also deprives USA of the "fun" of the Civil War and China that of the Taiping Rebellion...On the other hand, the colonial game will be more balanced.

But I don't mind 1850 anyway...just let me know so I can adjust the starting files quickly.

coolbean suggested that the poll I'd put up had been compromised by people not in the game voting, which seemed like it had been the case. He also suggested voting in the thread, so that we can be sure everyone who votes is a member of the game.
