Immortal leaders in March of The Eagles.

March of the Eagles, a Paradox game, began as a cooperative project between Ageod and Paradox. This became a Paradox only project, and the game was released yesterday.

In my opinion, it cannot begin to compare to Napoleons Campaigns, by Ageod, and it has one of the oddest features I have ever seen.

As I understand it, leaders cannot be killed or wounded. And there is no way to get new leaders. And leader traits are a part of the game, but none of the leaders who start the game have any traits, not even Napoleon, though they can be developed as a result of battles. And there is no description of what the leader traits are, not even in the manual.

I am sure Lannes, Desaix, Sir John Moore, and the many other leaders who died in this war would have been surprised to learn that they could not be killed or wounded.

I wish Paradox had made the game a bit more realistic.

Traits were planned and started but I guess the team who took over missed them in the way...or lacked time ;)

In all fairness, this would be weird if they did not implement the death chances that exist in their others games. Perhaps you have just been lucky? :)

As for traits, if this is a design decision of their, I don't agree with it, but it is their game now.

It's an OK game but it has in my opinion not enough substance to stay fun after a few years. I have played a few rounds with some friends and.. it just gets boring. Really boring and repetitive. We never played to the end.

No comparison to AGEOD games :(

I agre no real substance and a poor game on the whole. CK2 is my favourite Paradox game by a mile as the engine suits it perfectly.

I like it. But it needs a few more patches or even a DLC before it is pristine. Usual paradox policy it seems. The battle engine in March of the Eagles is great though. AGEOD really needs a new engine. That is the biggest drawback at the moment.

You mean the game engine or the battle engine? Couldn't find a picture of the March of the Eagles battle engine. All I could find was a trailer where a battle was represented by two animated sprites doing something that almost looked at they were shooting at each other. This was also the "battle engine" of HOI3. Where I simply loved the fact, that they released new DLCs soon after I bought the "Complete HOI3" collection :coeurs:
March of the Eagles general's portraits look cool (and familiar) tho ;)

I imagine what mentioned here is new game engine(that doesn't lag in big maps) can't be new battle engine. :D
Though from my demo impressions battle engine is also "new and advanced" comparison to CK2. In this one you can choose general tactics and influence sub "battle events" of that tactic. And can arrange reserves. But the system is very much failure that reserves almost always join the battle and "battle events" system is very powerful . It creates bigger stacks always win most of the battles especially one flank of the army retreating. There is no frontage when the attacker stack outflanks remaining enemy force. This battle engine can be adequate for CK'2 and EU4. :)
