Important leaders atleast should have specially made portraits imho. I know some of them have no known portrait but atleast should feel unique.

Yeah, I'd also like to see more unique portraits.

There is a well-known bust of Pyrrhus that would make a great portrait in AJE:

Awesome screens!

Dumb question, but what is the release date for the expansion, I think I saw it somewhere, but I can't find it.

Initially it was planned this week, but we feel the product is not optimum yet and we shall delay it for about 10 days to ensure better release status. But for sure, this will be before end of the month

It's better to release a polished product, so take your time.

Maybe that means you can now add some extra portraits, like that one of Pyrrhus? :D

Great! I thought it was the Mithridates portrait, but I was clearly mistaken.

But shouldn't he be missing his nose? :bonk: ;)

See! Pyrrhus has no nose!
But how does he smell?
Awful...

I'll go away now.

I guess I can wait. But I truly appreciate your not releasing a product that did not meet your standards yet. Other game companies would do well to follow your lead, though I will not mention any names.
I will eagerly buy it when it is ready.

I read on Matrix/Slithering the ETA is next 29 and no Hannibal (2nd punic war) inside BOR. So he will be next DLC?

According to Matrix, this will be a stand-alone game? I thought that it was an expansion of AJE????

I was wondering this as the title of this thread seemed to contradict the announcement. Thank you.

I did not purchase AJE simply because that time period doesn't interest me as much as the early periods of Rome do and I'm am also short of money. Will there be a demo so I can try it out first?

one question, bcz BOR is a standalone game, not a exp for AJE, if other dlcs comes in the future, will they still be for AJE , or BOR, or compatible for both ?

Alright, now I'm confused. Are two projects being released, the dlc and the stand alone? Will there now be 2 base games with future dlcs' for both? Will every new era have a new base game? What new features are in the new game? Will new features(if any) be patched into AJE? What is the future roadmap for Aje?

I'm a little disappointed that this and presumably all future releases will be stand alone games. I was under the impression that the concept of AJE was to have a base game where additional content would merely expand the game scenario lists and be accessable from the same file/.exe for ease of modding, DLC, expansion installs and upgrading. Is it the end of the world? No. But I'm not following the logic of having two seperate base games requiring to two seperate install paths but that can play the same DLC content. Matrix/Slitherine has shown that games can be both expansions and/or stand alone. They did it with the Scourage of War game's latest release. You could either choose to install directly into your SoW game file or setup a seperate stand alone install. I'm not overly concerned with the price point, but the number of install directories that this series will require to play the full spectrum of the game. I'll gladly pay the same price for this content as I did for the original AJE as an expansion onto the AJE base game. Just please figure out a way to make it install into the same directory. Unless there are some sort of engine changes to game play mechanics that prevent that from happening but based on the press release that doesn't seem to be the case.

I am convinced that this was not the original plan, but something that came from the merger with Slitherine. Usually, you have take some bad with the good. But I still think the merger is a good thing in terms of their being any Ageod games to enjoy in the future.

In marketing terms the thinking behind it could be Rome total War II is round the corner, gamers young and old will be washed with Rome related adverts and themes.
AJE is about romans fighting romans, put simply which means to the common gamer same unit vs same unit.
Having a stand alone with Punic wars means that people to whom the Roman civil war theme didn't appeal, will now be tempted to buy the game.

The success of a product is on its general appeal. I'm pretty sure most people at the time bought AACW and Napoleon's campaigns for the civil war theme not for the game mechanics.
I personnally think its a sound idea to make it stand alone even if to us it means a couple more icons and paths on our Pc.

I'll buy it and look forward to it.

After thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. If you sell it as a separate game, people who are not interested in the Roman Civil War era do not have to buy AJE, but will buy BOR. That way you can sell just the BOR game to people who want it versus them not buying it because they would have to buy AJE if BOR was just a DLC.

I see it is for sale on the Matrix site - but I do not see it in the AGEOD shop. Will it be sold thru the 'home' site or is Matrix the only point of sale?

It's listed as "Coming Soon". Who knows how long before it's released?
