You need a minimum of 1,600 for your industries to run. On top of that, you need to have some for your purchases (I see that you are importing Dyes, Wood, Tropical Fruit, etc - you can total your purchases by hand to know how much). You can find this out by looking at the turn notes at the bottom of the screen, it will say we have purchased Y items, it cost us Y. You will want to have enough above that for any colonial actions you take as well - whenever you take them (as these cost money) - so if you want to have anathropologic expedition, you need to have that much money above your limit.
So for example, you may need 1,600 for industry, 200 for purchases, and 200 for colonial actions - a total of 2,000 on hand each turn to aviod inflation. This will vary by the amount needed for trade and for colonial actions.
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.
