Strange...missing ord and turn files of host and no back up files in game folder...

Hi, has anyone ever suffered this interesting development. The game has been going on for about a year now between a friend and I..and I just noted that the saved files in the game are all gone..the only files I can have at this point are the two...from my opponent. The Turn file I had sent him and the Ord file he had sent back to me. We were in the year 1864. Game was patched to to the most recent file listed weeks ago 1.03d.

Hi....I have noted this as well...the game does not now open correctly. Asks me for the serial number..which I have...and I get this error message....ULocalize.LoadLocalStrings, file not found: C:\Games\PrideofNations\VGN\LocalStrings*.csv
After placing my serial number it then asks for it again..which I enter again..and then again it says ok and that closes.
I checked the recycle bin for most current trn, ord files, etc. Checked the date..only files listed there are of today and yesterday...01/06/2013 and 01/05/2013...tmp files for the game.

There is no serial number request for Pride of Nations? Have you installed another AGEOD game in the meantime? Perhaps there has been some mix-up. This would explain your saved games are gone too, if the new game has overwritten the PON installation directory with its stuff.

I fear in this case that, unless you have some backup somewhere (like when you send the files to your opponent, the mails can still hold these files in the sent mail folder) that you may have lost your game...

Hi thanks Pocus. Well I do have the Roman game which I checked and the dates on any files are from October 2012. I checked the logs for PON I see the following which I added below...
You are correct...the game is lost. I have my friends files but all of mine and the previous backup folders are gone. This is very strange. I am one that does not delete the backup folders. If I had the backup files of the previous turns I could have rolled the game back. In fact as I examine this further that previous error message pops up [ULocalize.LoadLocalStrings, file not found: C:\Games\PrideofNations\VGN\LocalStrings*.csv] after I start the game now.
Then I see the menu asking for the serial number which I enter...the it accepts it and then after going through this process sometimes twice...I get the little box saying ok.
Now when I click on the game icon again...I get that error message again..and so forth.
The upshot of course is that a game that was being played for a nice period of time is lost and to restart it appears I will have to delete PON and re-install with the patches.
