Leader promotion question

Tue Apr 17, 2007 2:02 pm

Hi

I have a question regarding General promotion. When i promote a 2 Star General with seniority 2 and have a 2 Star General with seniority 1 which i don´t promote shouldn´t the General with the higher seniority rating protest and lose seniority points?

Sounds like the way it should be (though note that I'm still learning the promotion/seniority system)). Have you experienced a case where it isn't like that?

I am not 100% sure but this seems like a bug.
To get the right answer you'll have to wait for Pocus.

Godspeed and keep posting :cwboy:
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

sorry Frank, missed this post. Do not hesitate to *bump* posts after one day.

Yes this should work like that, if not, send me the saved game (with the backups) as a single ZIP please, and mention this thread and your nickname.

thanks.

Hi Pocus

sorry but i have delete all my savegames yesterday. :p leure: But when you start the ´62 campaign as the CSA you have Bragg with a seniority of 1 and Polk with 2 ( Both are two star Generals). When you promote Polk on the first turn then Brag doesn´t protest.

ok, there is a margin of 4 points allowed, so it is ok in this case. This was too stringent otherwise (but perhaps some would prefer an harder rule?)

The tooltip was missing by the way, I fixed it.

What are the promotion rules exactly? Are there a set number of 2 stars allowed at any one point? I've got a load of 1 star generals I'd like to promote, who are promotable and who have new model ID's when they are promoted, but they are never promotable. Does one need a certain seniority level to be promoted?

no, they need to prove their worth in battle. Most leaders can be promoted to a new rank, if they:

a) gain at least 4 seniority point compared to their base value

or

b) have a seniority of 1 or 2

If they still can't be promoted, then the data base is set like that: they are bound to remain at this rank. The tooltip of the Promote General order has been expanded, depicting the rule, in the new patch.
