Forts and transports

Thu Jul 19, 2012 2:46 pm

Quick question. Can you use transport elements to build a fort or must you use wagon elements?
I have heard, in such a way as to believe it, of your recently saying that both the army and the government needed a dictator. Of course it was not for this, but in spite of it, that I have given you the command. Only those generals who gain success can be dictators. What I now ask of you is military success, and I will risk the dictatorship.

I think only wagons, as putting the artillery on a transport would simply unload the guns at start of hosting, thus removing any fort building capability.

Edit: So much for thinking! I should know enough by now to defer such arcane knowledge to the community!

You can use transports. A recommended strategy is to use four 6 pounders and transports to build river forts because the transports are cheaper than wagons. When you combine the transports and the 4 artillery together, the build a fort icon will highlight and you click on it immediately.

That's great! Thanks!

I agree with Stormbringer3 on this one, at the risk of bringing a storm from LL in response!
Two Rules: 1. The Tournament Director is always right. 2. When the Tournament Director is wrong, see Rule 1.

Likewise, you can also use a riverine transport unit (4 elements) to build a depot, obviously in counties with harbor. ;)

No need to duck and run...

LL [my evil, misinformed twin] just needs to play the games more, rather than get buried in the DB!!!! :bonk:

Who knew? That's really good to know.

And did you know that putting three balloon units with the most senior Army command in a theatre will remove the fog of war there for two turns?
