Printable Maps

Sun Apr 15, 2007 2:42 pm

I created a strategic map from multiple screenshots. I enhanced the state borders and names to make them show up better.

There are two sizes. The small one will fit on a single sheet. The large one is poster size.

(AGEod guys, let me know if this steps on toes and I'll remove it.)

Oh well. I learned quite few things doing this. I wanted to remove all the shading for uncontrolled areas, so I figured out how to edit a scenario to remove the Confederates and transfer control of all regions to the Union. I wanted all regions in clear weather, so I figured out what controlled that. I edited the interface files to remove all the interface except for the jump map.

Maybe I'll use the official map as a starting point and add important cities. I like how it doesn't have all those little flags all over the place.

Great job everybody :coeurs: ! I did want to ask for something likr thisso I can plan my campaigns. It is hard with low resolution :grr:
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

That's going to cost a fortune to print, but it'll be worth it!

Warning from Rafiki : "Due to Gray Lensman's never-ending efforts, the map is slightly out of sync with what you see in-game"

If anyone has a big screen (and motivation) he can update the map.

1) take several screenshots from ingame.
2) use http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html to stick screenshots together.

Good luck

I did get it printed in A2 size and laminated. Did cost 7 euro.
