1880 scenario?

Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:56 pm

Sometime ago PhilThib mentioned he was working upon an 1880 scenario for PON.

I would be happy to buy this as DLC, when can we expect to see it?

I am stuck with total lack on time on two remaining items for this scenario, the techs and the trade...all the rest is done, but of course will need prior testing before becoming a DLC

Well, I know that means you are designing something else for us, so I will just be patient. There is plenty to enjoy with the game as it is.

But when you do have the time to finish it and have it tested, I will buy it at the first opportunity.

PhilThib, a Grand Campaign with starting at year 1880 and one at 1910 will be really amazing indeed.

The first will be just at the beginning of the "Scramble for Africa" and the second just before the "Great War" erupts. I love 1850 but it's not for the faint-hearted since many years pass before you see some major conflicts, colonial or not.

I have a feeling that a Grand War scenario starting at 1910 would be awesome, but would also be a huge undertaking.

I'd certainly want it to seamlessly handle the numerous nations that fought on either side, seamless in their coalitions. Also, there would have to be some chance on who sided with which side, like the Turkish battleships incident.

I almost wish they could redo the map and make smaller and more numerous regions for a 1910 scenario that lasts through WW1. Probably asking too much for that.

I love that some of the leaders' files go to their historical dates way beyond 1920. Does this mean that game might in theory be updated in the future to go beyond its natural ending time? :w00t:

i dont speak for the devs, but i fear i have to disappoint you:

if you run into files which do use a date for appearing in game / firing events which is NOT within the games focus, it does normally mean it is kinda hardscripted ensure that this particular event will happen / leader will be available with certainty...

however, sticking with PARADOX, aint it possible to use VIC saved games in HOI ;)

Hope dies last, Yellow Ribbon. ;)

I'll be still happy with a paid DLC that provides 1880 and 1910 as starting dates for the Grand Campaign, if it is combined with a neat update of some missing features (loans, sneak attacks, more events and playable nations, etc).

you can always play AGE games past the end date....the issue here is that there won't be any events after December 1920.... :D

But until you reach that turn, we can sit for a few weeks (months?) :mdr:
