supply consumption

Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:02 pm

The amount of supply/ammo consumption (per turn) for different units are not mentioned in the manual. Will we be able to see this ingame, as a tooltip perhaps ?

Also are you able to actually stockpile supplies/ammo , for instance inside forts or cities? having a large stockpile will be vital in case of sieges.

After selecting a force, you have a tooltip when you hover mouse on icons for supply (food and water) and ammo consumption at the top of the unit panel , left to corps/army badges.
Along with icons of detection value , hide value , you have an icon for ammo:
The tooltip says , for example, " 100% of your maximal ammunitions capacity , your stock is 128 , your usage is 4 per battle".
With consumption of supply , the icon will progressively turn red.
Same for the tooltip above supply icon.

You can't boost automatic supply or redirect it to a specific location.
But you can construct a supply depot ( 2 supply wagon cost ) or upgrade existing level to have more supply arriving at that location. Use also your supply filter to visualize better the relative level of supply ( with the number of crates/ammo bullets displayed).

True , but try also to maintain a supply chain with depot and/or city every ~3 regions.
As manual says , depot will attract and push forward more supply than basic city.
And also try to gather many supply wagons when you plan a future offensive, furthermore they give a 10% fire bonus also to the force they are with.

As Aldertag says, the only way to really fine tune your supply distribution is to build and use supply wagons. These are relatively expensive units, so you'll see the Northern forces using them a lot more than the Southern side. I don't think I've ever built more than one or two wagon trains as the South, I usually rely on what I can capture from the Yankees.

If you need extra supplies for a seige or an offensive, you can create your own supply lines using these units, but make sure they're well protected, because they're easy to capture, and giving extra supplies to the enemy is never a good idea. :)
