Unless you guys have some compelling need for WinZip, you might try uninstalling it and just using the extractor tool that's built into Windows. Once WinZip is gone, you can just right-click on the zipped patch file and select "Extract All..." That will extract the patch to whatever location the zipped file is located. You can then run the patch.
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!

You are correct, disabling Winzip allowed the patch to function normally. This is the first time I have ever seen Winzip or 7z not work on a compressed file.

Thank you.

No need to uninstall WinZip. Simply right click on your 1.02 patch download; choose "Open With"; choose 'Windows Explorer". Everything will finally work correctly.

That is on Windows 7.

Thanks guys.

thanks pocus but using winzip the rar file doesn't work either - it starts extracting but then -

Extracting Patch_PON_1.02.exe Error: CRC mismatch in file "Patch_PON_1.02.exe" in the archive "C:\Users\Fish\Documents\Downloads\Patch_PON_1.02.rar"

but as per richfed i disabled winzip (options/configuration/uncheck 'Archives') and windows did it ok (right click and extract all to desktop)

Corrupt file?

Mon Nov 28, 2011 8:44 pm

Not sure what's happening here but winrar appears to be telling me that the file is corrupt!?!!

! C:\Downloads\AGEOD Game Patches\Patch_PON_1.02.rar: Unexpected end of archive
! C:\Downloads\AGEOD Game Patches\Patch_PON_1.02.rar: CRC failed in Patch_PON_1.02.exe. The file is corrupt
! C:\Downloads\AGEOD Game Patches\Patch_PON_1.02.rar: Unexpected end of archive

And so won't extract the damn thing at all. What's wrong?

This is the third attempt at downloading the thing.

I think he just means that the Tech Support thread there is hidden if you aren't logged in. It's a common question when people are trying to find the patch.

Sounds like you are logged in (you're getting the link) but the link doesn't work.

EDIT: I'm getting the same 404 error message.

Thanks the new link at the top worked and I was able to extract the .exe from the zip file.

Cheers

Thx. But yes, I was logged in and commented on the forum that there was a problem.

Pocus has sorted the problem and the link at the beginning of this thread now works (at least in the sense that the file extracted and installed okay).

A simple but maybe dumb question:

I am making a fresh install of PoN in a new computer. Should I apply the DLCs I own (ACW, FP, SA) before or after the 1.02 patch ?

if i remember right, the beta patches had already contents addressing especially the DLCs, so installation of and patch afterwards shall be alright.
At least for ACW there was no problem similar as the former deletion bug.

So, for a fresh install:

1.01 -> DLCs -> 1.02. , is that it ?

"So, for a fresh install:

would be logical, for as i mentioned the patch 1.02 includes changes for the DLCs event files...

i.e.

"1870 DLC FPW changes
* added AI guidelines events for Prussia
* added Production (pools and assets)
* added French "Franc-Tireurs" events (guerrillas)
* added French leaders 3*** promotion for AI"

yes, you patch after adding DLC (or you add DLC before patching :) ).

Because the patch update events on DLCs.

Thanks for the confirmation Pocus, and thank you too, Yellow, for your help

A sugestion: maybe this info should be more clear in the patch notes, to avoid someone that buys one of these DLCs now failing to patch them ?

Hi,

the patch notes say BEL an TUR are now playable, but I´m not sure if this is only for the owners of the FPW DLC?

hello Sorel,

Belgium and the Ottoman Empire were made playable for the Grand Campaign (1850)

there exist also mods for making other countries playable, but since they were not part of the original design they will lack the events / decisions / reforms etc, depending on the current state of development and of the work done by volunteers...

I bought the FP War scenario and installed it. This was after I had patched several months ago. Should I repatch it or am I good?

After going back to PON after certain time I decide to dowload 1.02 and start new game as japan and discovered one think: I can build anchorage/coaling station/harbor (and related expansions) only under all overview, they dont show under any specialized window.

as Pocus confirmed above:

1.) install PON (with version 1.01)

2.) add the DLCs

3.) THEN PATCH 1.02

1.02 includes patches for the DLC

if i understand you right, you talk about the COLORED FILTERS which show you whether a structure can be build or not.
in case i got it...
Yes, you need to be in an "Non-filtering"-Mode to use them properly.

Why that, well, as example try stained glass ordered in a row, a green one, a red one and a yellow one.
What happens, you get probably a nasty, dark green-brown.

I mean with this example:

I just would make NO sense to run multiple filters overlapping each others, the filters would not be of any use at all.

You probably can build the mentioned structures, but you cant see the original change of color you expect to see, do you ??!
