Are you kidding me? they couldn't hit a 3-star general from that distance!

Hello my fellow AACW enthousiasts. Time and time again I have read about the unkillable 3-star generals, imagine my surprise when I bagged quite a few in my last turn as the CSA.

Now let me see if I can attach images.

That's cause they fought to the last man.

Congrats on ruining the union high command.

Nice job!

I don't understand the thread title, though. When I saw the thread I thought that it was going about not being able to bag any generals... :)

Ouch... I'm guessing you were playing against Athena?

The title refers to the famous last words of John Sedgwick, you might want to google him :)

Barksdale, yes against Athena, she likes to deep raid with big groups, ignoring Missouri and Kentucky (solidly mine since '62 and '63), run out of supplies and hide in cities just as my counteroffensive is ready. These are the results....

A 3* can't take a stray shot indeed, but can be killed if he is the last element of a combined unit. I think he can also die from snowfreeze...

Well, a 3 star can get killed in regular battle with regular orders. I once lost Beauregard in such a battle by fall 1861.

And he was lost in a battle he won.

I experienced exactly the same, but Bureaugard has his HQ unit at very low strength in the beginning of the game, so my guess is that he was simply killed alongside with his fragile unit.

Mine wasn't.
I used the very same HQ unit a couple of turn afterwards to put another 3 stars in his place.
He definitely got a stray bullet.

There is absolutely no difference between the rank of a general and the probability of him dying in combat. It's .2% for every general; see the quote of GL in my post further down in this thread, 10th posting: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=18411&highlight=Meade

MISTER Pocus, are you testing us with your answer?
