Railroads in colonies disappear

Tue Aug 23, 2011 3:18 pm

My railroads in two African colonial areas and four Indochina provinces simply disappeared, without warning.

This is in my game as France, the year is 1859.This entire game has been played with the latest beta patch.

These railroads were built as ordinary railroads, not with colonial actions. They were built at least two years before they disappeared. Some railroads that were built in colonies in the same period or even earlier are still there.

Is this as it should be? Or is it a bug?

I have the problem too... I think it's because i use the "build road" colonial decision on those provinces after building the railroad.

I have this problem only with 1.1h (before, i could upgrade to railroad and double railroad those provinces with "build road" colonial decision but this problem is now solved. Perhaps it's related)

You know, I am certain that I used the "build road" decision in the two African colonies, and I may have used it on the Indochina colonies as well. I will rebuild the railroads, avoid the "build road" colonial decision, and see what happens.

Thank you for your help, I think you may have solved it.

Use the build road as long as you need to better the to be colony, after 40 or 50 (capitals) build rr.

Just to support the theory that it's something to do with the colonial build road action: I'm playing Prussia (which initially can't use the Build Road card) and I've built many railroads in colonial holdings, but so far none have disappeared.

If you dont play the build road card the rr will remain, whether visible or not.
But that card is one of the few options (Telegraph, Immigrants, build roads ) that will rise the colonial penetration above 35, what is needed to form colonies in the long run. Therefore the builing of RR will postpone that colony creation if builded to early.

Confirmed. I rebuilt the railroads after they were removed by the road card. What I find weird is that I have colonised Kenya and other places and I can't build RR there.

Exactly, "improving" the transportation level with the road decision actually downgrades the tranportation level of your region if you already have a railroad. ;)
We are working on a solution for this (do not allow you to play the road decision on railroads :D )
