trying to destroy a fort

Sat Jul 02, 2011 12:57 pm

Hi everybody

I´m trying to destroy a coastal confederate fort as the union, but several turns have passed with the special order button pressed and the fort is still there.
Is this feature working properly? and, if it´s, how does it exactly work?

Thanks.

I think the rules say that you can destroy a pre-war fort. All of the CSA costal forts would fit the bill. But it says that permanent fortifications can not be destroyed.

So far as I know forts in cities can be destroyed. I am a little confused on the whole issue.

Me too. I was able to successfully destroy Fort Henry. I gave a full division the order to destroy Island 10. Two turns passed, the fort is still there, and I can no longer give the destroy fort order.

Hi Sorel! :)

In principle, this function has to work fine, unless there is a bug. I use it frequently and working properly. Post your game's files and I will try run it on my pc. ;)

Make sure your "destruction units" are not stacked with any garrison troops. Island #10 can be destroyed. Also, you may need an active leader, even though the game may indicate during the Orders phase that some other unit has successfully been given the order to destroy the fort.

There are no garrison troops, but my leader (fighting Joe) has been inactive for one turn. However, IIRC this was changed in a patch (no remember which) and now you don´t need to have your leader active (at least, you shouldn´t).

PS: Ethan, te he mandado un privado. ;)

The only way I could blow Island #10 in a current PBEM game was to get everyone out of the fort, strip off a brigade with no leader and have it blow the fort. Nothing else worked in two previous attempts.
