As a reminder, you can change the AI settings in the middle of a game and they take effect. The only one that doesn't is Randomized Generals Stats, IIRC.

I haven’t played AACW for a long time so loaded up the 1.15 patch and started the long campaign. I usually play the south so decided to give the north a go.

A few months into the game confederate units seemed to take a particular interest in Chicago and all towns north. Even crossing the great lakes and roaming the Canadian border. They were all a long way from confederate controlled territory and were infantry units not cavalry raiding.

Is this a WAD? Or something that will be fixed in 1.16?

Previous plays I remember small incursions happening but this is quite unhistorical. Any solutions?

Also I found a union cavalry unit with a .MAP after the unit name. Small bug.

A little help about patches and changes.

Mon Sep 12, 2011 12:33 am

I'm new in forums but i'm buying AACW and i want to know in which order i have to install patches (where can i download them and what changes they include), and of course, where to get an updated manual of this game. Thanks and congratulations for your excellent job.

Welcome to the forums Calixto :wavey: . The most current update is 1.16rc4. It can be found here. It lists the changes from previous patches. You download 1.16 directly over your initial install. It is a beta patch, but most of us are using it. The last official patch was 1.15. Don't patch to 1.15, then attempt to patch to 1.16. You can install the game twice (once for each patch if you wish). I have done that, and am currently running 2 versions of the game (due to a PBEM game).

We're a helpful bunch, and don't forget the search function.

Hi Calixto! :)

First, welcome to the Ageod Forums. Have fun here and enjoy playing.

Well, to install a specific patch, firstly you have to install AACW and then run the choosen patch (which will be installed on the installation of AACW).

Regarding where to download the patches: If you are interested in the 1.16 Release Candidate 4a (still unofficial :neener :) , look here.

If you're looking for the 1.15 patch or any previous, then check this out. Here, you will also find a list of changes.

For the manual, take a look here.

In addition, look these helpful links originally posted by Dixicrat. :coeurs:

And remember that the search function can help you so much. :w00t:

Greetings! :wavey:

Is it actually true in patch 1.16 that you can only get replacements at a depot. I know it says that, but in reality is it so?

Not a lot of silly raiding, although Athena gets fixated on Harper's Ferry sometimes and forgets about Richmond. Any raids she does are usually "reasonable."

Start in 1862 on COL and watch A. S. Johnston come boiling out of TN with a Louisville Slugger inscribed "For Special Delivery to US Grant." The first time that happened, I was staggered to my knees.

charles: i think that depends on one of the settings
calixo: make sure to install AACW in the c:\ root directory to avoid some problems with file location

You can get back full replacements only on depots if you are with historical attrition on, only... otherwise others places are good too.

Hello I am having a huge problem. Whenever I try to open a turn I've just processed for my PBEM counterpart, the game crashes. We're on a second turn of the grand 1861 campaign w/kentucky.

Perhaps email that to lodilefty? This thread is old. Hardly anyone views this thread anymore.

I don't even have 115 installed, so if it works in 116RCx,then I'll simply tell you to patch to latest beta release.

Try the beta patch first, in short...
