Build new or gather transport in Provence, then move the troops you want to send over into the region, then load them on transports, then move transports to Algiers....

Don't send huge troops to Algerie, they'll just die from disease and attrition...consider sending expedition brigades and something light (no corps)

Are there any transport ships else then steamroller transports? I recoginized I cannot use merchant fleets and steamroller transports are really expensive ... (playing Sardinia-Piemont)

As Piedmont you should have access to both steam transports and sail transports. The sail transports are about the same price, but don't require steel if I recall though.

Ships in general are pretty pricey, but once you get your economy stabilized you should be able to afford some new fleets before too long. Just focus on raising your imports and exports and fresh money should flow into your coffers in short order.

Thanks. Any possibility to reduce/eliminate this attrition, for example by building barracks, hospital or something else ? Because this raise the issue of colony wars which will be difficult to conduct.

I believe that is the point. ;) Otherwise, just build depots, with forts or garrisons to protect them, and roads and rails to keep them supplied and your troops should be ok. Of course, those things can be expensive...

Remember, colonial wars were not fought by regulars, in the vast majority of cases. They were fought by local levies and special colonial regiments.
These units are available to build and you should only use them with Colonial Generals to fight and garrison colonial areas.

Does anyone else feel it's a bit odd S-P does not start with any transports in it's navy? I mean, when you consider a good chunk of it's army begins stationed on an island ...
