Trades from South America failing

Wed Jun 15, 2011 11:38 pm

Playing at GB in 1850, I am buying goods all over the world for my countrymen. Strangely, none of the South American purchases are executing. These are not competitive failures: no other country is apparently putting in any bids. But no transactions occur, no message is given, and all the trade windows (t, b, and f4) all show them as active, turn after turn.

I have even dropped my maritime and tarriff taxes down to almost nothing, and still no change.

Any insight?

Thanks,

Are you at war with anyone?
Or is your diplomatic score with anybody negative?
If so there was a bug, now fixed, that a nation with a negative relationship to you could block all trade from a maritime trade box.
If you are playing with the 1.01e patch though this should be fixed.

Mystery solved: processing order

Thu Jun 16, 2011 4:55 pm

It was a cashflow issue: South America (particularly Brazil) seems to process last on my purchase trades, every turn. So as I spent money elsewhere, the process would simply stop once my cash was depleted, prior to sales to my population. (No message is included about being out of funds, but that is my interpretation.)

Once I built up my capital account, the failures stopped, and I am happily buying coffee and gold from Brazil now.

Thanks!
