Wed Jun 08, 2011 2:33 am

ok so I posted before on here and got great info thanks so now just quick questions on the general pool. In the beginning of the war i have a whole bunch of one star generals they are my divisions and (2) 2 star general now i automatically make them my corps commander but need help with the 1 stars i send them to different regions but when they get there do I make them divisions?? or wait till I get a two star general next yr and put them in the corps?

Build divisions.

You can’t build Corps until March 1862. A two star will build a division that has no penalties. A one star will build a division with a 10% penalty. Putting a second general with him will remove that until you can build Corps. Also signal and medical units help.

If you are lucky some of those one stars will have earned promotions by the time you can build into corps.

As soon as division creation is available (somewhere end of 1861) I would consider using them as it is a way to reduce command penalty (a division costs 4 Command Points whatever you put inside it) and to share special ability among all units of the division (sharpshooter, officer special trait).

As explained by Ol' Choctaw, adding in the force another leader or a signal unit with the division will allow you to have 0% command penalty.

Use your better one star generals early by picking fights you think they can win so they gain enough experience to be promotable. Groom good 2 star generals 'cause your early ones aren't very effective.

You have a lot of officers in Washington at the beginning of the game (and more will be added later). Send some of them in the West to help organize your troops.

The game was changed a few patches ago to 1862 for corps formation. You must be playing on an older patch (before 1.13 I think). Same with divisions.

In your situation start building as soon as possible. But for PBEM, most of us use 1.15 or 1.16, which has the later start date.

Jim is right, jnels80. You must be playing with 1.13 patch or previous in order to form Corps before March 62. If I were you, I would update to 1.15 patch (at least) or 1.16rc4a to obtain improvements. ;)

Hi! :)

You can download all the official patches that you want (until 1.15 patch), here.

If you want 1.16rc4a patch (still unofficial patch), here, in the post #1.

Enjoy playing! ;)
