Question: How to make Union stronger?

Sat Apr 30, 2011 6:22 pm

Hey guys!

I' m playing now as the CSA for a long time. I' ve now managed to stop the Union every game, every turn - it' s getting boring for me.

My question: How I can make the Union stronger? I don' t want to make the models stronger (fire power), but I want that the AI is producing more and more units to overrun me. What can I do? Making Union units cheaper? Or what?

Thanks a lot, guys!

I agree the AI is more like an annoyance that a real threat right now. I capture Washington just after the first winter most games.

The best way I have heard is to allow the Union to build her forces up until 1863. I don't much like the idea of playing passivly but i might try it next time.

Other than that checking the option to allow the AI less fog of war helps a lot.

Another option is to play both side. Playing against AI is always easy, after the first couple of games. If you do not have a human opponent, play both sides, via the PBM interface. You will make the Union a better player, period. Added bonus, you learn some of the Union features and strengths.

Hey, thanks a lot! It' s true: the AI get more aggressive, if there is less fog of war, and makes more raids behind my lines, but only with few brigades and detachments, which run out of supply and ammunition. 1863 the Union is very strong, but not aggressive enough and doesn' t use their overwhelming man power. But it' s a good advise, Alexander! Thanks!

Hey, thanks! How I can change the side? What is the PBM interface?

What I have done:

I' ve set the costs of Union models (Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry) to a low level and have changed the values of the AICmnGuide.inc (AI should be producing now more line infantry).

To change sides don't end your turn when you are finished, save the turn. Clicking the end turn button activates the AI. You can still save your turn, just don't end it. Then go to the main menu and load up the turn for the opposing side. Do the same with that side, saving the turn when you are finished. When you have finished and saved both sides turns, then you can press the end turn button.
