Running you riverboats aground?

Wed Apr 06, 2011 7:58 pm

I ran into a problem chasseing ships up a river in Texas. It was the last river in south Texas, I forget the name of the river and the town. I can only assume it was a bug but once I had them in the river I couldn’t get back to the harbor and just ran out of supply.

In a current campaign the Union some how managed to run an Ironclad up a non-navigable river and got it stuck. It must have been a bad retreat path.

Has anyone else run into these problems?

It's the lower Colorado River, and it's from a retreat in Matagorda Bay? (the bay west of Matagorda). If you are attacked, you can be forced to retreat into the river, and then your ships just slowly die. It is still this way on 1.15. I currently don't have access to the game, but can post it later.

Pardon my ignorance, Gray, but I don’t know how to post those files, and I can’t pm you.

Jim-NC, that is the place but I sent Ironclads in there after the ships and I couldn’t come out.

The place the other fleet is stuck is in the Big Muddy entering the Ohio River, from the north, just northwest of Cairo, Illinois. It must have retreated and it is about two regions up the stream.

This is from my current PBEM game. I have given you the turn after they are stuck, and the previous turn (before they are stuck). Also, I have FI triggered, and I noticed that I get double messages when I get reinforcements, and I have no sea transport ability.

Please No looking my worthy opponent.

I have another incident of an Ironclad being stuck up the Big Muddy just north of Cairo.

I think when Cairo and St. Louis are in CSA hands it runs into a problem as where to start the unit when it shows up on the board.

Well, if it were there it would not be a problem. :mdr:

It is grounded up the Big Muddy. It sits in the upper left corner of Benton, IL just left of the road junction so that the unit icon covers all but the M in muddy.

Sorry Gray, I didn’t save it in time. It will have to wait until it happens again. This was the second time it happened in a CSA campaign but I am sure it will show up again.
