Though I welcome such news. A bit of sour wine is due: the exchange rate is too proletarian for my taste. I cannot remember anyone making me such exchange rate presents when the Euro was low. Exchange rate today 1€ = 1.39$, 29,99€ = 41,60$.

Please dont take this personal. I point it out everytime I see this happen, because I really think it's not right.

Don't forget that Americans don't pay our VAT, so the price for them is really 29.99 / 1.196 = 25.08 * 1.39 = 34.85$

Well, it's maybe the last stuff they have right in their system : VAT is a true unfair tax which touch the poor and not the rich. In a better world (like before and like tomorrow ;) ) we would only have Income Tax, which is the only fair tax a democracy should have...

The problem with our income tax is that it is a tax on the middle class. The wealthy have enough political power and good lawyers and accountants and can make sure that they pay very little income tax. In fact, "capital gains", or gain on investment, is taxed at a much lower rate than "earnings", and rich people somehow manage to make sure most or all of their compensation is taxed as "capital gains." Poor people pay very little or no income tax because of the various exemptions you can get - I myself haven't paid federal income tax in years although I have a steady job. But with three kids and a mortgage my various tax credits and exemptions mean that the federal government is actually giving me money. So the income tax falls most strongly on the middle class.

You are right that the VAT is a flat tax - poor people pay just as much as rich people. In the US, most states get a lot of their income from sales taxes, which are like a VAT except that they are charged only at the point of final sale to a consumer. Most sales tax laws exempt some forms of basic commodities with the idea that poor people will spend a larger proportion of their income on those things but it somehow works out that rich people are better at evading even the sales tax. My state, Oregon, doesn't have a sales tax, and people who have a little bit of extra money come down from Washington, where they have a large sales tax, to buy in big shopping malls established right on the border.

I don't like the idea of taxing income. I'd rather tax consumption, on the theory that this would encourage savings. But there has to be some justice in the tax system, so that the cost of government falls most heavily on those who control it and who benefit from it the most - the wealthy. But given the political power of money, I don't expect that there will be much serious tax reform in this country.

Income tax is my beloved tax :coeurs: :D

Psychologically, it's more painfull than VAT, but it is really the more fair tax.

If you're afraid about people saving to much money in banks, then there is always the taxes on the capital incomes.

I would accept the principle of VAT only if there is a minimum income as well as a maximum income which is not far away from the first... but i don't know why, this proposal looks unthinkable for some people... :neener:

So finally, removing all kind of VAT and increasing the Income tax (including capital tax) is the most fair & realistic ...for the year 2058 of courses, when the US and European middle classe will be a tiny ethnic minority

While I am still more than willing to pay 40€ for RuS, or any AgeOD game for that matter and I understand that the reduction will certainly help the sale, I cannot but wonder how many eyebrows, mine included, were raised at sight of this news. I just hope it was done in order to increase already great sales and not the last desperate attempt to swim to the surface.

And don't get me started on tax. But don't forget, we might have VAT (which in addition to all the other taxes, even at reduced rate, hits the poorest segments of the population the most), we do have great social policies, with a high minimal salary, which can always be augmented by other social transfers. Still doesn't mean that the the rich are paying their fair share of the pie. Onwards Comrades!

One of the key things to understand about the US is the federal system. The states are very different from the federal government - in the area of finances, states mostly can't run deficits. They have to have a balanced budget in each biennium. They can sometimes borrow money for capital improvements (depending on the state constitution) but this money is more expensive than the federal government's borrowing because it is less reliable.

Most states tax land: a property tax, expressed as a percentage of assessed valuation. We also encourage homeownership through income tax deductions for mortgage interest paid. As a result, there are a lot of people in America who own their own homes - generally the most valuable asset they own. With the big run-up in housing prices during the early 2000s, lots of people found themselves paying enormous property taxes. My own property tax bill is about 7.5% of my annual income, way more than my state and federal income tax combined.

Most states have sales taxes, as I said before, kind of like the European VAT. My state, Oregon, does not. It has been proposed many times but the voters always reject it in referenda. This is one reason why our land taxes are so high. We have lots of referenda in Oregon; we love to vote here. Our constitution is almost a hundred pages long because people have passed so many amendments.

The federal government gets most of its money from income taxes. These come in two flavors: the regular income tax, which is extremely difficult to calculate because of all the exemptions and credits and funny definitions, and the payroll tax, devoted to the old-age insurance scheme we call Social Security and the old-age health care system called Medicare. This is a flat percentage of salary earned up to $80,000 a year, and nothing on any earnings beyond that - a clearly regressive tax. The benefit paid out is also capped, giving some semblence of fairness to the system, but since it is insurance I have always thought that the benefit should be means-tested. But messing with Social Security/Medicare is political suicide. Old people vote and they will vote massively against anybody who threatens their benefits. Selfish bastards! Those of us who were born after 1955 or so mostly assume that the system will not be there for us when we retire.

Maybe we would do better with requisition missions :D

What I mean is that non-EU purchasers (e.g. Americans) are NOT paying European VAT from products they buy in the EU...basically, when they buy from us, it's Tax free

Now they have another system in USA, with the Sales Tax, which is paid at local level (= State) with varying rates... but that would apply only to sellers located in the US, not our case again...

I wonder how the French State can control it  .
E.g. if i'm in France and i hide/change my IP to looks like an US internet user, then i would be able to buy downloaded soft without paying the French VAT :bonk: ...

Well, the state would not control, Nexway will and your purchase will be refused...it has happened many times already ...

In addition, the DL provider should take care of avoiding these kind of 'games', because he will be the one to be fined in case the tax officials find out :mdr:

And if you are purchasing a product made in a different state, you usually don't have to pay sales tax. So people buy stuff and have it shipped to friends who live across the state line in order to dodge sales tax. And governments go nuts trying to enforce the tax laws.

Ultimately, the world will have to come up with some way to deal with this.

Hi again,

I saw the proyect of "picaron" and it decided me to adquire the game hopping the translation will be ready in a new patch, but it is not ready to be played by everyone, only picaron who worked on it can do it by now.

Thanks anyway, i really love ageod´s games, got all of them and their price is more than correct (mine was a critic sane and few ironic to Rus because with other of your games i can play in spanish) because are really ones of the betters wargames i´ve ever played, and never got problems with others before Rus, just was enought changing on settings, general file the 0 by the 2 and it used to work, but it does´t works almost not with Rus till "picaron works" will be applicated maybe by a patch.

Pd. A pleasure if really talking with Mr.Philip game designer, congrats for your game systen.
