Purchased brigades didn't appear

Sun Feb 27, 2011 9:31 pm

I have just noticed a problem in my PBEM game. It is early '63 so hopefully it isn't game-breaking.

In Early Jan I had my Draft/Call for Volunteers. I then built a total of 82 units, army and navy.

The picture is hard to read: 42 regular, 1 Irregular, 3 Cavalry, 28 Artillery, 1 Support, 4 River Ships, 3 Ocean Ships.

On my Late Jan turn I only had 77 units appear.

I know that a 2Inf 1Cav brigade in Maryland and 2 Artillery in Ohio didn't show up, I am not sure yet what else got lost.

I just now noticed this and I haven't tried resolving the turn again, I am going to do that now. Anyone have any idea what might have happened?

Mebbe you didn't bring in as many $ & CS as predicted. Lose any big battles or objectives during the turn?

Yep, somehow I lost Pittsburgh in a huge suicide cavalry raid. Still not sure how he won that battle. I also lost Gallatin, TN.

I resolved the turn again, and this time he didn't get Pittsburgh, but I still only had 79 units built. I hadn't noticed this before, is it common for the resource predictions to be that far off? How does the game decide what doesn't get built?

The values for the new turn production are only an estimate. It can be off, especially when you purchase a lot of units. I have had this happen a few times as the CSA, and usually, it is my cotton embargo that does not happen (I have always run out of money, and the embargo is the most expensive). It remains signed, and now shows that it will happen the next turn.

I am not sure how the computer decides which units to not build.

When you draft/call for volunteers/print money.... all these options have a cost in NM. The numbers displayed are based on your actual NM. But when the turn is run, your NM will lower and consequently money and conscript actually raised will be lower than expected.

So it takes that NM hit into account that turn? That would explain it, this was the first time I had enough money to use all of my CS on the turn I drafted.

Yes, it does. Numbers displayed when you sign for an option don't take NM hit into account.
