Poll: RUS purshasers, what AGEod games do you play?

Sat Dec 18, 2010 4:40 am

I think it could be interesting to know who plays RUS and other AGEod games.

Voted I even don't play RUS. But I greatly hope I will later.

EDIT: I may forgot World War One Gold in the poll.

Mostly WiA and RoP. I also have ACW and NCP but I never played then too much. I hope to start some napoleonic campaign this crhistmas. But I made a mistake buying ACW because for me it´s too hard to learn the mechanics of the game, and I don´t really have a lot of interest for that period. :bonk:

I've played AACW and Rise of Prussia.

It's true that Ageod games can be hard to get into. What helps a lot is playing the small scenarios to get a "feel" for the game, and reading all the info gathered by the community. All the threads describing the different game mechanics helped a lot when I started playing American Civil War.

RUS doesn't have that yet, after all it just came out. But I'm sure that if anyone has any questions, there's always going to be someone (especially those already familiar with the engine) willing to answer it. edit : some of those questions might be partially answered in the AACW wiki : http://www.ageod.net/aacwwiki/Main_Page. There are gonna be differences between the two games of course, but that might still help in some areas (supply for example).

The first Ageod game I played was RoP, so I learned the core mechanics from that game. After this I also bought NCP, because the period interests me. RUS is my third Ageod game. Recently I have also bought and started playing WIA.

I started with AACW (that's when I joined the forum)... love it...a classic!

I bought WIA because of the slightly simplified game play... sometimes I don't want to have to manage which troops show up--WIA kind of gives them to you automatic...

picked up ROP because of the evolving system (detailed combat report) It was also on sale ... I enjoy it but am having difficulty with play balance; I think it's me though! ;)

More than any other system I've played, AGE games, seems to tell a story... who went where ,who did what,...I can't wait for RUS to get to that point!

I started with BOA, then AACW, then Napoleons Campaigns(only a little), then WIA, then ROP and now RUS.
I never regret any purchase of this games...

Hohenlohe: I am with you on identical track. Bought NCP to support AGEOD keep hoping for campaign mode. Love all these games and the people who are behind them. t

I started with NCP, thought the map and gameplay were fantastic although it lacked a Campaign which really took away the edge it could have had. Still looking forward to a 1792 -1815 campaign engine with this title though (and the map is the best of an Ageod title to date).

Then I purchased AACW, again a really good title and then WIA which the seven years war colonial campaign is really good and I keep playing this scenario as French as it is really challenging to hold Albany and keep it. Also great supply rules here.

AGEOD games, whilst they are a niche subject, are great games.

I havent bought any Ageod games yet but have the demos and am leaning towards either ACW or RUS as I like both the periods. But ACW is cheap whilst RUS is pretty expensive actually although RUS is probably more advanced and I could play the underdogs slightly easier (conscience wise) in RUS than in ACW. Difficult choice. Probably go for ACW as I cant afford RUS as I also want to get Call of Duty 2 along with an AGEOD game (one for quick blasts, one for long campaigns in between the COD). I am a bit shocked that the RUS download is more expensive than most boxed games around (all but the new far too expensive COD game in fact). I cant justify to myself (or my wife) spending that kind of money on a downloaded game.

Update - I bought American Civil War and COD 2.

I play overall Rise of Prussia. I'm trying to have a little more of time just to immerse into American Civil War, which I already have.

Interesting poll.

I ran it only for a month, as I was wondering about how many could be an AGE engine newby user like me, and buy RUS at its release, as I didn't understand why others could learn the game so fast.
