I noticed that, before releasing the patch, that caching detected erroneous data and was not happy, so I believed I disabled it... It seems caching reverted to ON by itself. Damn thing :)

The code is fine btw, it is just that the caching now detects data that have problems, like double-pipe.

Here is beta8. That would be cool if the official version were derived from it! ;)

http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/temp/patch_AACW_v1.16b8.zip

The patch now includes 'system.opt' that disable caching, this was my mistake. It worked locally for me, but not for a patched regular game.
Also includes AI placeholders file from Michael.

No it does not.

After beta8, the LocalStrings__Age file is still dated 20-05-2010

Qualifying statements is understood thanks, and thank you for your support about the game. :)
But my main curiosity about the beta patches is about retreat: units retreating to regions that have enemy controlled structures. When I have tested with beta 7 Sibley was retreating to Tuscon rather then other regions when attacked by cavalry. is this fixed?

I understand. So retreat change was about "discounts the effect IF its owned by the enemy." thank you.

It was turn 6 or 7 Sibley decided changing sides in the war :) . He moved to Tucson during turn resolution and I think there was no garrison in it.
save files from beta 7 updated to 8. I tried it didnt give errors :) but it can be reproduced by any game I think.

and No! you give update or feedback in any situation in beta or hotfix. it is well understood, thank you again.

If one has Beta 7 working - via the QuickFix - is there any reason to switch to Beta 8? I can't see any ...

That's not a bug. This is "an unexpected side effect coming from a map peculiarity affecting too strongly a most of the time perfectly correct parameter".

Seriously, you get a +10 bonus to retreat interest for each land link of the evaluated region, reasoning being that it is always good to be a in region where there are many paths.
But South West is an interesting region with no less than 26 land links, for the grand total of a +260 bonus.

So, instead of trying to find the right value that would do the right things 100% of the case, I choose to change the formula. Now the +10 is not an absolute bonus but a +10% to the current value.

In the end, South West starts at -12, and has 0 bonus from 0 MC, so now don't get any benefits from having a lot of links.

Sibley now retreats in Quitman...

If there is nothing else spotted, this will make the official version, it is long due.
