pbm game result issue

Mon Oct 04, 2010 6:28 pm

Gray_Lensman wrote:asdicus: Could you please also post the saved game files along with the screen pics?

Though screen pics show that a problem exists, it is much more helpful to post the saved game files for Pocus to use to isolate the problem in the game code.

Pocus:

Seems we've been having these oddball victory/NM mismatches ever since they were changed a while back to address an issue runyan99 brought up last year. Could it be that though some things were changed in the game engine, other parts of the game engine associated with combining the correct victory conditions/rewards for the statements were not also corrected to keep everything in sync.

Sorry my pbm game is now finished and I was not the host - so I do not have access to the save game files. As mentioned above this problem has been ongoing over several versions although I believe it was not an issue in the initial release version.

Gray, I requested you your latest quickfixes changes without the EXE installer, can you forward the files please?

Here's one save and backup with this NM problem from AACW

Gray,

Must we wait for beta 7 to be released, or will it be save compatible? Sounds like it's the former.

OK. And here I thought the AI was programmed to think like Douglas MacArthur - "We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.” :)

The bug has lost us some players. Good luck in ridding us of it.

4 Models have similar error:

19CSA6 lb pounder.mdl
20CSA12 lb pounder.mdl
97USARodman Art..mdl
98USASiege Artillery.mdl

part of the MainLog message as seen for the two CSA models:
...|16|Phillips' Art|16||20|1st TX 'Alamo City Guards'|20|4th TX 'Van Dorn Art|20|...

Data in each of the 4 appears to be missing where the red highlight exists, prolly wreaking havoc...

When I delete models.cached and Units.cached, game loads OK first try (as it directly reads the models) then FUBARRS the second load when reading from the cache files. This is repeatable....

Clearly, something wierd with the model and/or unit cache creator/reader.....

Clean install, beta7 + HotFix

Tried with HotFix ON. Game loaded up fine. First turn fine. Closed game and restarted. Error message - as above in Post #248. Bypassed it by clicking NO [2nd Time; first time I clicked YES which caused a CTD]

Closed out game. Installed HotFix OFF. Game progressed normally. However, as the CSA in the full campaign w/Kentucky, the New Orleans fleet cannot be accessed even when the event that releases them occurs in the 4th [?] turn. Clicking on the blue flag in NO does not work. Vicksburg fleet, which releases that same turn, is fine.

Thanks, Gray ...

As for the New Orleans fleet: I started the game up this morning and they were fine! Weird, because I actually closed the game, started up again, and the fleet was inaccessible. This was last night. Even resolved a turn to see if they became active the next turn. Didn't work. Now, this morning, working ... Hocus Pocus!! Magic ...

Force Names

Sun Oct 10, 2010 5:11 pm

Other than Armies, all forces are named CSA Force or CSA Detachment ... even if a leader is placed in the stack. For example, it used to be that the two forces in Savannah, GA were named Savannah Garrison and Savannah Force ... no longer. Now, it is as I mentioned. If I throw a General in either stack, the name does not change to the leader's name. This is the case all over the map. It is still only Aug. '61, so I am curious to see what happens when I form divisions.

Well, once a division is formed, it takes on the name of its commander, as always, so that is good.

I am pretty certain that the retreat bug is not fixed ... Johnston's force just retreated from Strasburg Depot into W. Virginia rather than toward friendlier places.
