Organizing fleet stacks in port

Sun Aug 22, 2010 2:07 am

Searched extensively on here and the wiki and couldn't find anything.

Is there a way to rearrange fleet stacks while they are in port? Been a while since I played, but would have sworn it was possible

Closest I thought I found was saying you could drag the tabs (where you select the given stack for a region), but you can't drag onto another tab. Since you can't move them around within the map region ala land units, you can only have the selected fleet/stack visible, thus can't move units around. (Eg: Take ship B from stack 1, and put it in stack 2, ship A from stack 2 into stack 3, etc).

Is the only way around this to join up via move orders? (Either move onto another ships waypoint/circle in a nearby sea region, or move all of them and then organize at sea).

Thanks for any pointers.

Drag and dropping in port should work fine. You can't do that at sea obviously, but I've never had a problem with that in port.

Well, thanks for the replies guys. I'm not sure what happened, but unlike the numerous attempts prior to posting this, it is working now.

I had tried dragging onto the "tab" of the fleet I wished to deposit the unit(s) in (as I had remembered from the last time I played, ~ a year ago), and every time it would issue a movement order to the sea nearest whatever was under the tab on the map. Today I tried, and first time worked just as I remembered doing it. Didn't do anyhting different, and no idea what was causing the behavior I witnessed last night, perhaps a key was stuck or something.

Unless I'm overlooking something, there is a small associated UI bug - if you are moored in a port that has no land unit in the Region, then you have to go to the Ledger for the Naval tab(s) and select the unit. Unclickable on map.

Clicking on the blue flag will pull-up the unit in a port ;) and if enemy units are standing on top the the blue flag, turn off their display temporarily by pressing <CTRL><F2> to reveal the blue flag

Well, thx, GL, but if there is a land unit there, not too much of a prob (just move it), 'less ypu can't see the blue pennant and forgot where you put your toy boats ;)

But I never tried clicking on the pennant...

Users get into habits and sometimes don't try a new IRQ.
