Colour of Veteran/Active Units

Thu Aug 19, 2010 5:11 pm

Just a quick question, an answer for which I could not find via the search function:

The manual says that a veteran unit has a purple flag on its unit icon and an acive unit yellow, whereas the in-game tooltip states that a yellow flag is veteran and purple active.

Which is correct?

Thanks,

R

The manual is definitely incorrect so go by what the tooltip ingame tells you. I remember reading about this manual errata item somewhere else here on the forum.

Thx.

I had been working on that basis - tooltiips rule.

I did search the manual errata sticky, but couldn't find any reference to this issue.

@ Calvinus,
Please can you confirm.
Seems that tooltip is correct based on firepower and attack/defence values, but just to be sure (because it affects the order I commit units to battle).

Moff Jerjerrod stated the known situation; what you see in the game is correct.
You can confirm the unit's actual statistics in the unit info box which you can open by clicking on the particular corp. I'm talking about a little brown unit info box that opens on the right side of the screen-not the control panel at the bottom of the screen.

Yellow is the color for the veteran units. In some instances, especially in defensive situations, the lower quality units work just as well as the veteran troops. That is not to say that elite troops are not bad ass on the defense; I am sure that many TE players have been dismayed by the German mountain troops in the 7th Army :) .

Thx, Maestro.

As I thought then.

I'm with you on using lower-morale units in the defence - often absorb the intial rounds with white or grey units (hoping to score a few hits at least), in order to blunt the attacks utilising the terrain/weather defensive bonuses. Then counterattack with purple, yellow or orange where appropriate.

Anyway, thanks for your confirmation.

Confirm: the manual is wrong.
