Another mouse jumpiness issue (Win7)

Tue Jul 20, 2010 11:51 am

Hello,

Downloaded the Demo on my brand-new Win7 computer. I'm experiencing the mouse jumpiness issue other people have been reporting for the Campaign game, to the extend that the game is unplayable. The problem is particularly strong each time a window is open (for example, sending diplomats to a posting is hell...)

Here is what I tried to solve the issue (all solutions I saw suggested here):
- Run the program in XP SP2 Compatibility mode, Disable Desktop Composition.
- Download patch 1.08K and run the game in single CPU mode (by the way, my chip is Core i5).
- Allow full map load + tune down mouse sensitivity.

None of the above brings any improvement.

Any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Same problem if you move the mouse sensitivity slider up?

Does the demo have the option to run in single core affinity?

Yes, and he's running the game in single-core mode.

Hello,

Nope, moving up the sensitivity doesn't work either.

So please check if disabling the Antivirus helps?
Watch also the Task Manager to see if some running process is grabbing CPU %.

hello i bought the game recently,i have read all the posts, im using 6300 core duo processor, 4670 radeon (1 gb) and 2 gb ram.using windows 7 32 bit. with grand campaign i got 8 fps with 1980*1020 resolution. UAC turned off, i stop kaspersky real time protection and firewall, loaded full map on start. it looks excellent game with every concept but even in campaign map(without ai taking actions) it shows very low fps for a turn based game. it is not necessary to have high fps but not good for the eyes after a time. even thats low for single player i can not imagine multiplay :) i hope some optimization will be done in future patches because thats the most important thing that can give harm to multiplay otherwise its very intelligent and very good game.

Hello Baris, try running the game in single-core (CPU) mode. It should help... ;)
...and install the latest patch (that introduces the single-core mode).

Hi!

A little update on my situation:

- Shutting down the anti-virus doesn't work.
- However, and strangely enough, one thing seems to reduce the mouse jumpiness (not to the point of eliminating the problem fully, unfortunately): streaming a video in the background of my computer! It seems that loading my computer with this additional task while I play the game improves things... Strange!

Another question related to the game: in WEGO mode, I have had several instances of enemy armies moving through my territories without triggering any battle (despite the presence of an army of mine in the space they crossed), and ending up isolated behind my lines without having ever fought. Seems like a bug to me. Is it so?

I think that Win7 is yet an "unknown land" when I hear such things! :mdr:
Anyway this makes me think: what happens if you disable the "Play intro video" option (Configure Game tool)?

I think this bug has been fixed in 1.08L currently under work: the rule says "no more than one battle in the same area" and I discovered that battles of previous turns weren't erased in some occurrences, so the game engine didn't triggered any battle in the same areas, even if during following turns. Maybe this is your case...
