Those clams must be murder

This is the second campaign in which I've tried to send river transports up the Tennessee River past Tuscumbia, but the game won't let me send them into the Mussel Shoals river region :cthulhu: or beyond even if using a friendly harbor as the goal.

According to the tool-tips the Tennessee is shippable up to Knoxville. There are harbors in all the cities along the way and the toop-tips even state how many elements are needed to blockade.

You can however use generic river transports the entire length. What is this?

I've also noticed that you cannot send frigates, steam frigates or armored frigates up Ol' Man River (the Mississippi for those not initiated in American cultural jargon) beyond Eastern Branch, which is where the Red River runs into the Mississippi. Historically Farragut sailed his fleet past Vicksburg to the Yazoo confluent. Am I doing something wrong here?

I've also noticed that my Ironclads in and south of Eastern Branch need 4 days per region as opposed to the normal 1 day. Do they have some superstitious fear of traveling south of the Red River, some sort of Freudian psycho-sexual neuroses?

It could be related to the weather in the region.

Hi Grey, thanks for your answers.

I was unaware that the Tennessee was too shallow at Mussel Shoals to allow river boat traffic. You learn something every day. I just kept looking at those harbors etc and wondering. I really wanted to send transports up to Chattanooga to build a depot, cheap as I am. :D

So ocean ships being stopped at the Red is WOD too. Well, I guess if I don't have the gunboats and ironclads by then to handle what I need it's just as well I don't send the expensive frigates to get taken apart by Vicksburg.
