Sat Apr 24, 2010 2:58 pm

I installed the game and it ran great. The next day I tried to start it up and now it wont load. I have read other post where the game run on window 7. Does anybody know what I can do?

I have tried running config. I did install it in the program file that could be a mistake. I downloaded from gamersgate so to reinstall is a big deal (slow internet connection) Also tried to turn off anti virus. When I installed I entered the serial number and everything worked. I am really at a lost. I wish the developers ( who seem very helpful would issue a patch for win 7)

I tried that but it did not help. I have to admit I tried the demo first and no matter where I installed it, not in Program or not, it would install but not load. I guess that was dumb of me to go ahead and purchase the game but I really wanted to play this game. Nap Cam, BOA2, ROP all run well on my system.

If the problem is the UAC, you will have to uninstall the game, disable the UAC, reboot and then reinstall the game.

I never had any problem with two different computers both using windows vista (and now 7) x64 bits :)

Others have commented to install in a different folder like C:\Ageod In my case never needed to do it, by default the games go to C:\Program Files (x86) because they are 32 bits applications. They run fine, the saved games are where they are supposed to be...

IMHO the first thing tom do after getting a vista/7 PC is to disable the UAC and left it this way ;)

Try the following:

1. De-activate your UAC [how-to at: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=11621&highlight=disable+UAC ]
2. Uninstall the game
3. Use Explorer to find "AGEod's American Civil War" folder under Program Files.
4. Delete the "AGEod's American Civil War" Directory and all it contains [you will lose saved games]
5. Reinstall AACW, but change the default directory box to read "C:\AGEOD\AGEod's American Civil War" [or any hard drive you wish]
6. Download the latest patch from: http://www.ageod-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=107
7. Extract the patch file and run it [it shoud automatically go to the "C:\AGEOD\AGEod's American Civil War" location]
8. Run AACW

And,
Be sure you have installed DirectX 9, as Vista's inherent DirectX10 is not fully backward compatible.

DirectX 9:

These work for me with Vista, and AFAIK they work in Win 7
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!
