End Turn/Save Game

Wed Jan 27, 2010 1:14 pm

Pocus wrote:well, did you know that the first thing which is happening when you click on End Turn is to save your turn automatically?

Yes, I kind of thought that was the case, Mr. Pocus. However - and I'm not sure this really proves anything - any time I have saved the turn FIRST and then moved on, I have NEVER experienced a game crash. [Well, to the best of my aged, limited, recollection, that is!! ]. On the other hand, though rare, I can expect at least one CTD over the course of a full campaign when not saving beforehand. 2-3 would be a very rough estimate. Out of those, 90% are easily recoverable by simply reloading the game. Of those 90%, when I resume the last game/turn ... moves are still plotted on the map, any reinforcements, supplies, or political decisions show up in the ledger, etc. I need to End the Turn to let those pre-crash moves resolve. Of the other 10%, two very nasty outcomes ... one [may have been pre-Legacy] I could never move past - had to start over; another lost track of the saved game. Files were still there, but the game could not locate them. :bonk:

All games were against the Union AI, full camapaign w/Kentucky, Windows 7 OS

I don't know, might warrant a look ...

PS - Love the game!!!!!!!

I have seen the REPORTED POST email, the thread in question itself, and the above discussion.

I'll leave this for Arne to decide what's best here.

However, if I might add one comment ... We do get a lot RU and CN registrations email confirmation which are probably BOTs and spammers. Still, I think it would be best to not to publicly denote these domain suffixes or countries as malware safe havens. It is possible that some Russian or Chinese "paying" customer might find that suggestion to be offensive.

Thanks.

It's easier than that, you can attach directly your .rar file to your post. ;)

Again as stated above, no offense was intended concerning your original posted link but past experience with MALWare attacks has left me very wary/suspicious of such links and we hope not to expose other AGEod patrons to possible MALWare experiences if we can avoid them.

Thank you. :) I understand your concern and not offended. :)

Russia distributor firm Akella released a game with a Russian translation, but patches are not localized. So I made a transfer in order to help the Russian players. (Sorry for my English :) )

patching past 1.06d, not happening

Fri Mar 26, 2010 10:40 am

Quick question!

My game will not patch beyond 1.06d

When I try to patch beyond that it gives me an error saying invalid serial!!!?

I've tried a complete uninstall, cleaned registery then a clean reinstall!

Never lets me patch 1.07 onwards.......what am I doing wrong?

What am I missing on these patches?

Very frustrating!!!

Any advice welcome

Where and when did you bought your game? ;)

If your serial key fails all the time after you install a certain patch, it means two things:
1-Your serial key is blacklisted
2-You need a new one

To get a new serial key, you need to send some proof of purchase to AGEOD... but I am sure that will not be a problem for you.

Thanks.

I bought my game via gamersgate a few days ago and it runs fine (version1.05) but when i have installed this patch (1.15) i get this while trying to start the game:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000005). Click OK to close the application."

it seems i cant patch the game at all :(

Gray_Lensman wrote:Sorry, I'm waiting for someone else who has downloaded AACW from Gamersgate to speak up and confirm the v1.05 version. Since, I started working with the game a few weeks AFTER it's initial release in 2007, the earliest known patch I have to test with is v1.06. I'm not at all convinced that the Gamersgate download is actually v1.05 as you have stated. Could it be that you are mistaken? All the patches that I have (which include 24 separate patches from v1.06 thru v1.15) work just fine with the original v1.00 download version acquired directly from the AGEod site back in 2007.

Well the game says version1.05 when its unpatched. If i apply any patch the game wont start as i stated in my last entry. :(

I have tried all the compatibility modes to no avail. It seems i am doomed to not be able to patch the game then strangely enough.

No problems here with 1.15 update, W7 ultimate x64

Have you tried with run as administrator or better with UAC disabled?

Not sure right now.

But probably this is not the problem because Pocus sent him a different and more recent setup file. So perhaps it is related with missing files or something when you install with the UAC enabled, just a guess of course

Try disabling the UAC as Nikel suggested and then follow the suggestion in Post #7 of the following link to install in a folder other than ...\Program Files\...

http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=11319

After the initial installation, I suggest leaving the UAC off again while you attempt to patch to v1.15. The patch should install/remove the correct files to the correct location(s). Hopefully, this will work out. :)

Well disabling the UAC was the first thing i did when i had installed win7. So that cant be it.

And also i installed to C:\Spel\ the first time i installed this game as i always do. I know how win7 can react if installed to program files.

Furthermore yes i did run it in administrator too. And yes the version i got from gamersgate is 1.05 and it runs very well as does the demo BUT when i install a patch and try to run the game after, i keep getting the error i mentioned.

The version i got from Pocus cannot be run due to the error i've mentioned.

For what its worth I have been running 1.15 of the game under Win7 64 bit for some time without any problems. I haven't had to set anything special or disable anything to make it work. It is installed in a different folder (D:\\games) than Program Manger. However, my base install is the original version of the game, probably 1.00.

One thing over the year or so I have been playing the game. It picks up problems whenever a new version is installed over the game that has been previously updated to another version. Every time I have installed a new release I have made a clean install. That is, uninstalled the old game, hunted down every folder associated with it an manually deleted them, then install my original version and update it to the new version.

1.05 just could be incompatible with 1.15.

Hi Pocus

Any word on the new patch release yet? I can't wait to start playing this game again! Great work by the way.
