So it seems the cause is not DivX. I will ask somebody to test and verify the game under Windows 7... :(

Don't feel so bad if it doesn't work. Clovis's mod for AACW doesn't work on my computer either. I don't think Microsoft likes good games :p . Also, Steam stopped working when I upgraded.

Well, I do have a computer with W7 64bit... but you will have to wait until I arrive home.
I will need to install the game on that computer first. ;)

I ran it on W7 64, it works, although surprisingly I find the scrolling much less smooth and easier than on my old Windows XP (despite the W7 laptop being much more powerful :bonk :)

OK, so how did you get it to work for you? Is this a settings issue or does this game not like me?

I would really be interested in this too. Never have been able to get it to run under W7/64

But I disabled UAC and all I get is a black screen. Same as when I run it as an admin. Is it the graphics card or something? I don't know what else it could be (then again, I'm not a techie).

If it is not related with the intro video perhaps this thread will help? As you can see the problem is not related with W7 x64

I run it on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Runs without error, performance could be better though. Mid to low teens frame rate which in and of itself isn't a huge deal for a turn based game, except it makes the controls very jerky to use. :(

If it matters in trying to isolate the troubles, it's a desktop, ATI 4870 video card.

The poster talked about compatibility options, have you tried that and/or run as administrator?

Yes. If I don't run as admin, I get the "fopen.c" error. If I do, I get the black screen. Although now, it doesn't work no matter what I do. I selected the "troubleshoot compatibility" thing, and it said "incompatible application". Yet it works for other people. I think my laptop just plain stinks.

Would giving you guys my msinfo.nfo or dxdiag.txt files help? Maybe you can see what settings my computer has and why they're interfering with the game.
