What's with the French?

Sun Mar 21, 2010 5:54 am

I spent the good part of 1758 using my newly formed army and 3 corps led by brunswick to isolate and defeat (in detail) a whole French army. Then POW! Another French army shows up with 40,000 men! I guess there is no "Rosbach" rule that the french must leave the theater after a major defeat...had their hands full in real life but not in my game apparently.

I'm not complaining, just suprised at the number of troops at their disposal...has anyone won a PBEM as prussia yet?

IRL the French had the largest army in Europe at that time...don't expect the game to be as bad as their historical performance...if you want them to behave more "historically", you must play with the 'Hardened Activation' rule [option] ON

Interesting. EDIT: I have hardened AI on...its the quantity that amazed me. Why didn't the French continue the fight after Rosbach IRL? I didn't realise their army was that large?

Caranorn...thanks for the link. I guess I really only read about the larger battles involving prussia. I had no idea there was so much activity in the german states after rossbach. Interesting information, thank you. Makes me wonder how prussia every really survived.
