Computer locks up on AI turn

It is Oct '61 and I have been making some careful but awesome movements. I saved the game and then tried to go to the next turn. After 7 moves by the AI, it locks up as if in a loop with no way out. Starting over with the saved game gives the same result as starting with the original game. They both lock. Thus I have no way right now to move forward. Short of starting all over, do you have any suggestions? I am curious if this will happen again.

The game was a gift (my first game was lost when I had a computer crash and could not find my proof of purchase--not surprising given that I was living in Bangladesh at the time and purchased the game in the US). When I got the new game I immediately downloaded the most recent patch and installed it.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Haven't encountered this, or seen it reported on the forum. Perhaps a corrupted installation? I'd uninstall the game and reload it and see if that fixes the problem. If not, you'd have to post your saved game files for someone to see what is going on.

Good luck, and keep at it. This is now a quite stable and very good game and worth the extra effort.

You say you saved it, then after 7 moves into the NEXT turn it locks up??

Can't you load your save, reset all your moves.. or just kill all moves one turn then try to proceed?
